Scotland v Argentina, 2026? Alexander Watson Hutton is the father of football there. He taught at St Andrews Scots School in Buenos Aires & the first Argentine championship of 1891 ended in a play off between St Andrews FC v Old Caledonians FC, with the St Andrews boys beating their compatriots.

Prof Danny Dorling of Oxford University nails it squarely on the head. The SG get zero credit for their policies on welfare. Particularly the Scottish child payment which lifts kids out of poverty. The loyal, compliant media on both sides of the border fear reporting this would fuel Independence.

@bsky.app needs notifications for individual contributiors.

Been on a few months and it seems not to be at the races.

I do wish the platform well though, but I m not on it as much as I imagined.

You know who else was an Open Borders guy? Jesus.

According to the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus's family escaped Herod's purported infant killing spree by crossing the border to Egypt.

I guess he's "gross" to Laura Loomer too.

How we beat back the corporate takeover of America:

1. Break up corporate monopolies

2. Continue building union power

3. End Citizens United and get big money out of politics

Let’s keep working to unrig the system.

Here's @angusbmacneil.bsky.social eating Farage for breakfast. This is how the fraudsters of Reform are taken on and how we take the Independence debate by the scruff and deliver in 2026.

🙈 the parliament in Scotland is not a sovereign parliament

It is a devolved parliament of Westminster which is why it doesn't even have the authority to ask the people a question in a referendum on a non devolved matter like "the union"

But a parliament can't write it would be a person.

Whatever... When know which 2 people are your mystery signatories, come back to debate that weird idea :))
Bye

I haven't made up democracy... Goodness 🙈🤷🙈

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Yes we know that.
That was 1707.
But who would be those signatures today ?
That is the question you are dodging .

Who in rest of world had said they wouldn't respect it?

I pointedly asked the previous UK PM, a Tory, if he would respect it. He never said anything like you have just said - he had far more respect for Scottish democracy!

Why don't you.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

You are the one saying signatures best democracy.

I am just asking how? ..the democratic path is clear as most people respect democracy.

Again I ask have you read the paragraph in the ruling?

And would you respect a vote for independence?

1 year ago 0 0 2 0

How would that work? Who are the relevant signatories? when all that exists are Westminster and Westminster's devolved Government?

And if a people vote for independence at an election why wouldn't you recognise it? .. why not democracy? Why these mysterious signatures??

1 year ago 0 0 3 0

I really don't know what you mean and if you do know then explain why a democratic vote wouldn't have authority in s democracy. Have you read the Supreme Court ruling and the particular paragraph on democratic authority?

Why would you describe a vote for independence as nonsense? 🤔🤷

And what do you mean legally?
How could you possibly call an illegal election or vote of any kind - who would man the polling stations for a start?

1 year ago 0 0 2 0

And who could call a vote tomorrow on independence ? The SNP have that power now until 2026.

Remember -
The UK Supreme Court said Holyrood could not trigger a referendum on independence.

BUT -
They didn't say, the people couldn't trigger independence in an election.

The UKSC were mindful that Law follows democracy.
Law doesn't constrain democracy
