Yep, 10 Queries picks are not necessarily out top ten choice for winners. Sometimes they are randomly chosen and sometimes they’re selected based on the feedback we can give. We receive dozens of subs. And we choose 2 rounds on 10 (total 20) for the #RevPit #10Queries events.
I will be emailing all my #RevPit submissions over the weekend because I have a really full week and I’ll be working with half a brain if I try to multitask. This will include my long and short lists as well as my #10Queries.
You submitted to 3 editors. Wait for all of them to confirm they’ve sent in their emails. Also, I’d encourage you, those of you who want to work on improving their MS and any of you who feel like this was the end to join #CampRevPit. It’s the best place to work out those kinks and learn what works.

1st- What is #CampRevPit?
#CampRevPit came out of the 2020 Annual Contest when mental health was suffering and was an idea for how to help writers cope with rejection after winners were announced.
Demi has put into words what I’ve been feeling the entire contest. Choosing a winner is the hardest part on this contest and I never want anyone I didn’t select to feel less than the rockstar they are. You wrote a whole dang book! That’s a win in itself. Keep going and never give up.

FF will need some work. Some elements feel superfluous. They begin well enough, but then the descriptions interrupt the pacing for a page or so. This is followed by a high-tension scene. Show versus tell balance is off. Paragraph breaks are haphazard

Comps should include author names for easy reference. WC is in the right range. The hook and especially stakes need more definition. What is the cost, what can they lose, what is causing the conflict? That is not coming through clearly.

This story has potential, though the writing needs some work. Tension & conflict are present, but could be raised even HIGHER! 😈🔥WC will need to be increased by 10-15K but be careful of info dumping.

Strong concept and clear stakes! QL is pushing past 400 words. Requires some restructuring and shortening. Consider moving up your primary revelation to spike the tension earlier! Comps look appropriate.

Good high-action entry to set the mood. MC’s voice is clear and strong. MS needs some line work for readability considering the target age-category. This is some serious subject matter as the theme, so must be handled with wisdom and tact.

The QL is supposed to sell the story, not just highlight what the MC does. A clear outline of the hook and stakes will help with thematic clarity. Include specific comps for easy reference not just the author's name.
