I thought it was weird to, but then I think about the Simpsons and how everyone started out yellow, then they switched to other colors for non white coded people, and realized that between that and a lot of people default assumptions of Lego people yellow became the new white at some point.

The Grey Squirrel on the left was made by Wild Republic, one of the few grey squirrel plushies I've come across, in the center is Squirrel with a Shotgun made by Makeship from the game Squirrel with a Gun I guess the Brown one's name is Douglas, that's the name/ brand on his tag.
