As a demographer, I really appreciate this attempt to associate vital statistics with a border instead of a state.
Not an easy task, but really important, especially insofar as borders offer so many opportunities for states to obfuscate their responsibility.

Pero como el ejercicio tiene como finalidad manipular distintas capas cartográficas en R, e introducir a un grupo de estudiantes extranjeros con las divisiones administrativas de España, me pa' que se queda como está.
Llevas razón 👏🏽 y podría haber usando las cuencas a las que pertenecen los ríos para asignar los colores.
