I hadn't played Pokemon in years, but I got back into it because of Brown 20th anniversary edition. I recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in Pokemon rom hacks. I put over a hundred hours into it, but it never overstayed its welcome. Plus, it's easy to level up your party postgame.

UPDATE: Pokémon Brown 6.1.1!

This fixes a bug with the new laptop item and issues with the Pokédex. It also includes other tweaks that we didn't have time to include in the 6.1 release. If you have 6.1, we recommend you update asap.

All other functions of the laptops, the box changing feature of the start menu and standard PCs are still safe to use.

Always remember to back up you save files!

We've been made aware of a bug in Brown 6.1 with the new laptops. There's a chance that changing your boxes while using them could corrupt your save data.

We will issue an update to correct this soon. In the meantime, please avoid using these laptops to change boxes.

UPDATE: Pokémon Brown 20th Anniversary 6.0.1

A hotfix for Pokémon Brown has released, including 22 bug fixes and some other adjustments!

A big thanks to all our community members for your reports!

We're aware of a bug in Brown that can cause players to become locked in the final room of the Elite 4.

For now, this can be resolved simply by saving and resetting you game, talking to the NPC again, and the door will open.

A proper fix for this will be released soon!

A quick note to players using Delta for iOS - Pokémon Brown runs great with this emulator, however, it has no SGB colour support right now.

If you wanted to experience Brown with its SGB colours on iOS, you can download SameBoy from the App Store. This has full SGB support!
