Fighting back against police is the worst thing you can do in the US. If you resist they can kill you with impunity.

You mean the “toxic capitalists” who are actually Maoists?

No zoning makes Texas is a governance “model”? Ughh. Texas is a governance hellscape. Try to find a school for your dyslexic child, try to find healthcare if you’re poor, try to remember to inspect your car every year, try to afford your property tax bill, try to protect your daughters’ rights…

And we need lots and lots and lots of legal action

Yes they will. They’ve already destroyed unions, so in this context maybe “general strike” would mean mass organized disobedience? I want folks who know how to organize to start creating actual strategies to push back. We’re hungry for leadership.

Yes good luck. Our only options: mass protests, general strikes… and what else? The public is still too sleepy for these measures… things need to get MUCH worse, and don’t worry they will. We need to start organizing now.

# 1 is a total own-goal. Yes, let’s document everything immediately and then come up with a NEW strategy: haven’t we all noticed that impeachment (like the 14th amendment, section 3) is not actually a thing?
# 2,3,4 are good.

I know it seems that way, but it’s not true. Currently, in the US there’s NO way to convince Rs of the value of ANY program. They want to destroy it all: to punish the Ds and enrich themselves. JVL understands better than most that the only way forward is to allow Rs to pursue self-destruction.

I cannot believe it’s real. But if it is, it’s perfect. Could there possibly be a better strategy for ending the EC than convincing trumpists that the libs are FOR it?

No similarities right now between Scarboroughs & Cheneys, my friend. Kamala’s brand lines up fully with AOC, Warren, etc. in minds of most voters. How is this advice getting Dems anywhere?

And I loved the Liz Cheney story, too! The villain becomes a hero! We could have brought her on board and STILL continued to call out the horrible monsters on the other side. Both are possible. In fact her language against those monsters was far stronger than the Dems’ language 🙄

Great thread. And first explanation I’ve heard that actually makes sense. I was jazzed when Waltz called Vance a weirdo! Then at the debate, he played Mr Nice Guy, falling over himself to agree with the disgusting weirdo instead of taking him down. I couldn’t watch.

This excerpt you’ve posted explains exactly why Dems should complain loudly but allow Gaetz to become AG. The whole system will unravel more quickly under Gaetz — and Dems will be the only ones capable of rebuilding it. That’s how it usually goes: Rs destroy, Dems rebuild.
