Currently they offer nothing of real interest and show zero interest in reforming/changing.

The status quo works for the EU. The more we wait there more it will work for the EU.

The status quo works just fine for the EU.

Let the UK get a little more desperate. It will make everything more easy.

We should stop treating the UK as if they are a serious and dependable partner. They have chosen not to be.

…part will work very quickly.

Of course.

It is a one time issue when no one is registered that causes a lot of the issues.

Eventually it will work just fine and it will be up to people to add a little extra time every 3 years when they have to get it renewed (maybe some of the information will be carried over so that even that

I’ve seen a few (anecdotal) posts recently saying how quick and easy it is when you are entering Schengen once you are registered in the system

One guy said it was just like the old days (pre 2020) when you just use an e-gate an whizz through like everyone else

The UK wants something similar (they also supported the EES when they were still an EU member) they are just not ready to enter the implementation phase yet.

Eventually it will be rolled out and will benefit the EU.

It matters far more to safeguard the EU.

That means keeping the UK at a distance.

We should focus on internal EU movement instead of extended Erasmus to the UK.

For one you can lead in the polls without having a majority.

Greece being slow to implement this is sadly not a surprise.

They never bother to check.

1 hour ago 2 0 1 0

…all other members would have to start checking people arriving from Greece.

Like when Hungary wanted to make exemptions for Russians.

I just read something about it yesterday without investigating it further.

I would be very surprised if it wasn’t an emergency measure only.

In the upstart period this is allowed. If Greece were in general to not do the proper checks on 3rd country citizens they would have to leave Schengen and…

…it.

Other jurisdictions already have something similar.

There were always going to be teething problems when rolling something like this out over 27 countries and multiple sides in each country.

The EES will benefit the EU (the UK voted in favour of all this when they were still a member).

Also the UK wants something similar if they ever get around to…

Brexit was always a UK issue only. The EU has moved on. It will be up people in the UK to educate themselves. Though it is of course a little late for that now.

Why should there be signs etc.?

Apparently it’s in Brussels. This is not an EU issue.

That some believed that they would somehow be exempt from the rules is of no relevance.

Those not satisfied are free to sell up.

Everyone knows the rules or should know the rules.

They haven’t changed at all and the UK was a firm believer in them.

The only thing that has changed is that the UK decided to become a 3rd country.

Stupid…yes of course but the consequences were known in advance.

Only the experience of doing it to others…but I get what you mean.

They can apply to become members, that is it.

They can also ensure that they actually qualify and try to build a positive relationship with current EU citizens…or they can act entitled and forever remain on the outside.

It is not about EU citizens wanting one thing or another.

We are not supposed to have an opinion at all.

If they want back in it is their right.

That every MS has a veto and that citizens have a voice that matters hasn’t registered everywhere.

Nonmembers on the other hand…they don’t have a say.

Yeah, I experience that too. If as an EU citizen you express your reservations about British EU membership then you must be a Russian because they can't imagine that EU are NOT waiting to welcome Britain back with open arms.

Yeah Schengen means the UK should not consider rejoining until it finds a joint way to protect the GFA with Ireland. Reminds me of those who shout Canada should join the EU without thinking of the effect on the Canadian First Nation tribes.

The EU came out stronger when the UK left.

The UK has decades of work to do in order to qualify and belong.

After 10 years that journey hasn’t even started.

They would have to qualify first (they don’t) and accept the entire EU acquis (they don’t).

Their sense of entitlement is definitely a huge obstacle.

The idea that EU citizens are somehow not allowed to have an opinion on the EU but UK citizens can…never ceases to amaze me.

Sometimes they block me. Literally just happened.

Blocked me after first accusing me of being a Russian.

Because of course if you don’t bend over and accept everything coming from the UK…then you must be a Russian.

Clearly didn’t bother to read my timeline 😉.

A peculiar strategy 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Understandable.

It is…and widespread too.
