A book shelf with The Ending Writes Itself facing out. 5 stars.

A book shelf with The Ending Writes Itself facing out. 5 stars.

A group of writers trapped together & then they start dying. I think I enjoyed this bc it took tropes & cliches from different genres & combined them. It was also a strong critique of the publishing industry & what agents, editors, & writers are willing go through for a modicum of fame. #booksky📚💙

A mansion on a foggy hill overlooks the ocean. The Clinic - 4 stars.

I enjoyed this bc I’d feel one way about a character, & then a few pages later, I’d feel different. While the big reveal was a bit hard to believe, it definitely kept me entertained. Puts a group of different people together with different motives to see what happens. A quick, fun read. #booksky📚💜

I wanted to like this book. It had everything I want - gods/goddesses, magic, lovers, battles, deceit. But it just didn’t do it for me. I wasn’t moved & didn’t click with any characters. The writing was absolutely beautiful & poetic, but it took away from the character development. #booksky📚💙

Title Keep Me on plaid - 3.5 stars

A quick read. This book has enemy to lovers and fake marriage with adequate spice. I got the ick when the FMC’s anatomy was referred to as “her sex,” but overall, the story was entertaining. #booksky💙📚

They want too many things to focus on, so we can’t focus on everything. While spending $2B/day on a useless war, we could feed our country and provide healthcare. So true! But please don’t forget to focus on the Epstein files. Don’t forget about the files!

I liked the book fine. It was an easy and quick read, but I just didn’t care about the characters. So what should’ve been a great story - just wasn’t. It was told mostly from the POV of a rich family who buys their way out of everything. I would’ve liked the plot from Aubrey’s POV only. #booksky

White book cover with title When Breath Becomes Air. 5 stars.

White book cover with title When Breath Becomes Air. 5 stars.

As a cancer survivor, there is so much in this book that I can relate to. I also realized since I’ve been cancer free, some of my goals have been pushed aside. This book is heartbreaking but also inspiring. Yes, this is a book bore out of cancer & death, but it is also full of life & love! #booksky

A cabin on a lake with a dock. It’s Not Her by Mary Kubica. 4 stars.

A cabin on a lake with a dock. It’s Not Her by Mary Kubica. 4 stars.

This book had a lot of twists and turns. I appreciated that the plot twists were all related to what was happening and not some random character popping on the scene last minute. It kept my interest - I could see how/why every suspect could be guilty. Fun, quick read. #booksky📚💙

This book is amazing. I’ve read it twice bc I had to relive the beginning of Claire & Jamie’s romance. I adore stories set in and about the Scottish Highlands. It’s got time travel, romance, & adventure. It all makes for an amazing story. I plan on reading & then watching the series again. #booksky

Tricycle in an attic - 3 stars. A box Full of Darkness by Simone st James

Tricycle in an attic - 3 stars. A box Full of Darkness by Simone st James

Good, not great. I enjoyed the ghostly aspects. However, the dialogue btwn siblings felt like listening to 12 year olds rather than adults. The end just wasn’t satisfying. The wrap up at the end was completely unnecessary - I was waiting for a spooky “there could be more” & it never came. #booksky

What a beautiful celebration of life, family, and culture. I didn’t understand much of the lyrics, but that’s the wonderful thing about music - you can still feel the vibe and love. Thank you, Bad Bunny, for a great halftime show! #BadBunny #SuperBowlLX

The Island of Sea Women - 5 stars

The Island of Sea Women - 5 stars

A beautiful historical fiction about the Haenyeo tradition on Jeju Island, South Korea, from WW2 to the 2000s. The story centers on women divers (Haenyeo). Two friends - & their extended families - experience heartache & pain, while also protecting their love of the sea & love of family. #booksky📚💙

It’s so easy to list, sell, and buy books. The fees are 20% of sales or 0.40, whichever is higher. But there’s no fees to list or have a book store. You only pay when you sell. You never have to offer free shipping. No pressure!

There are no words for this glaring truth about government. The author doesn’t care about left or right politics - all are doing exactly what they were meant to do in a system that isn’t broken but rather fulfilling its purpose. This should be required reading for all - US citizens or no. #booksky📚💙

It wasn’t a favorite. I enjoyed Persephone’s POV better than Demeter’s, but I think I was supposed to sympathize with Demeter. I didn’t. There were also a few typos that annoyed me. I got it from the Once Upon a Book Club group, so there were things to unwrap while reading that kept my interest.

These Summer Storms. 4 stars. Four people walking on a beach.

These Summer Storms. 4 stars. Four people walking on a beach.

This was a good romance. It reminds me a bit of some Emily Henry I’ve read. It’s got a wealthy family, father’s death, games played for the inheritance, and a detached matriarch ready to throw her adult children under the bus. There’s a bit of spice and a lot of banter. Overall, a fun read. #booksky

Demeter’s story was boring! When it wasn’t boring, she was insufferable. Core/Persephone’s part was much better. I enjoyed reading of her time with Hades. But, the writing style was hard to get used to. There were several typos, as well as misused & repeated words. It was hard to ignore. #booksky

To Congress: Stop TALKING about it - we can do that! Actually do something! As representatives of this country, you are just as culpable if you stand by and only appear on the news, write memos, and make speeches. There are citizens dying standing up for our rights while you argue and spin lies.

A bloody table set on a beach.

A bloody table set on a beach.

I was hoping a murder mystery would draw me in, but when secrets were revealed, I was bored. Even the “big twist” had me rolling my eyes & when a character entered the scene, you got a detailed description of what they were wearing - ugh, exhausting. I didn’t care about anyone in this book. #booksky
