Alex Bregman may very well be turning it on. Over the last two weeks, he's hitting .320/.375/.380/117 wRC+.

No team in baseball has a longer winning streak than the Cubs' current six-game streak.

I am very happy the Cubs won, but that was one of the most idiotic endings I've ever seen: www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2026/04...

The Cubs have the third best run differential in baseball, and they also remain tied for last place in the NL Central.

Moises Ballesteros, who just hits and hits and hits, is now up to a ridiculous .359/.395/.615/179 wRC+ on the season.

I just noticed that Owen Caissie has a 42.1% strikeout rate, and yikes. That was the near-term concern with him in the big leagues, and it's been borne out so far. Will need time and ABs to adjust, and that's part of the reason the fit with the Marlins was a good one.

If I told you the guy with the 3rd highest walk rate in the NL is on the Cubs, you would probably believe me. But would you have guessed it was Dansby Swanson?

The Chicago Cubs, in last place in the NL Central, now have the 4th best run differential in all of baseball.

The opener strategy worked to a T last night, by the way, with Riley Martin efficiently dispatching three of the Phillies' best hitters in the first inning, and setting up Colin Rea to go six innings BUT face that top group only twice. That's the sneaky value.

How We Receive Baseball and More Fun with the Comeback Win As the Cubs went down big early yesterday, I was struck by a very weird thought: I am very angry, and also I am appreciating this experience. I almost had to interrogate myself to figure out what the heck my mind and gut were saying. Obviously, I wasn’t enjoying seeing the Cubs struggle, either yesterday or in the frustrating losses that preceded it. That’s not what I WANT to see from the Cubs. But if it’s going to happen sometimes anyway, the question is how you do you receive it as a fan? What provides the most enjoyment? It used to be the case that I worked very hard to put all games – all moments, really – into a bigger context. Thinking about luck. Thinking about randomness. Thinking about 162 games. So on and so forth. I think the purpose there was to try to reduce that rising anger that always accompanies frustrating Cubs moments (and, candidly, I never like the idea that I am going to look like a fool when the Cubs go on their next heater). But lately I wonder if that’s not actually the most fun way to do this whole thing. Maybe just letting myself be angry and flipping out and – yes, sometimes even knowingly overreacting – makes for an overall more enjoyable experience? I suspect the best answer overall is to “know thyself,” and do whatever gets you the most out of the experience (which might change over the days, months, and years), but I didn’t really land anywhere firm. That’s partly because, of course, the Cubs staged a big comeback yesterday and wound up walking off the Pirates. There was no time to keep on mulling what I get out of the worst Cubs moments, because it was time to enjoy one of the best. Maybe that’s part of the trade-off: the highs feel all the much higher after letting yourself really feel the lows. And that comeback, plus the walk-off, was an EXCELLENT early-season high. Some more things to enjoy from it … Another look at the walk-off dub: CUE UP GO CUBS GO, CARSON. pic.twitter.com/1YBNrz24ed— Chicago Cubs (@Cubs) April 12, 2026 And the always-fun Spanish-language call from Miguel Esparza: #Cubs walk it off! pic.twitter.com/kcQEn4hEMu— Miguel Esparza (@Miguelsvoice) April 12, 2026 Seiya beating PCA to the celebration scrum is a surprising upset, even with Seiya having been on base already: Carson Kelly had Cubs fans cheering Then he had them singing 🎶 pic.twitter.com/NPlQoeUuRw— MLB (@MLB) April 12, 2026 How it looked on the win probability chart: [W]heeeeeee! pic.twitter.com/Tw7KXD2dMz— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) April 12, 2026 The view from the broadcast booth: POV: @voiceofcohen2 calls the Cubs' first walk-off win of the season 👏 pic.twitter.com/4EzTMrn7z4— Marquee Sports Network (@WatchMarquee) April 12, 2026 A very happy crew: [W]alk-off dub! pic.twitter.com/OxuacMRYLy— Marquee Sports Network (@WatchMarquee) April 12, 2026 Kudos from Counsell: Craig Counsell tips his cap to his team following their first walk-off win of the season 👏 pic.twitter.com/6G89IsSUSE— Marquee Sports Network (@WatchMarquee) April 12, 2026 The Cubs believed they could come back the whole time: Never a doubt. pic.twitter.com/B6qOcqy6Ic— Elise Menaker (@EliseMenaker) April 12, 2026 More from the hero of the day: Cubbies with the comeback win! pic.twitter.com/8HfunQdEyV— Elise Menaker (@EliseMenaker) April 12, 2026 "All-in-all just a really good team win. Gotta enjoy the great wins when they come, even if they're sidled up next to some ugly losses.

Cubs prospect Josiah Hartshorn, who was drafted out of high school and is making his pro debut in full-season ball, has gone to the plate 42 times so far this season. He, a big hulking slugger, has struck out ONCE.

The Cubs Figure to Ease Seiya Suzuki Back In The Cubs have a number of players able to spell Suzuki when needed.

Lotta people beefing about Counsell saying Seiya won't play every day right away, and I don't really understand the beef. Easing him in for a brief period of time - when you consider the whole roster - makes a lot of sense to me: www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2026/04...

Gonna take a lot of heat for this, but if you don't speak out about your beliefs, then how strong are they really?

Here goes: the Cubs should beat the Pirates today if they can. It's the right thing to do.

Mason Miller currently has a 76.2% strikeout rate and a -1.43 FIP, and those numbers are so outrageously beyond any boundaries of normal that I am no longer able to perceive space and time.
