I'm right there with you. It's been five weeks since losing our little guy Marcus. I'm grieving and I'm not shy about it.

I'm fond of the Argus 44, though it's noisier, & the Argus Super Seventy-Five faux TLR. I enjoy visiting the Argus Museum in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is on a floor in the old Argus factory.

I love my Yashica Electro family, even though two out of three are non-functioning due to that whole "pad of death" issue.

I'm working on a 100' bulk roll, and have gotten poor results out of the first three rolls. The next batch I develop will be in caffenol, and I'll pay more attention to temperature, timing, etc. I usually use the 200 ISO, which I rarely had issues with.

Still looks a lot better than my non-expired Arista 400. I blame the photographer. Or the developer. Same suspicious looking guy I see in the mirror.

Where does Napoleon land on this? He was only a few centuries ago.

Rather like a beloved pet who keeps watch while you are vulnerable.

He left the Church in 2019 and became an evangelical. This kind of thing is performative, meant to please an audience of one.

My American life: I go to CVS pharmacies so I can eventually get a 20% - 25% off coupon that I can use on a 3-pack of Fuji 400.

Totally Team Bob / Pope Leo. Adult Catholic convert, so I know the perils of reading your way in, but having no connection to or compassion for the community.

I didn't know that people could bypass RCIA (or what is called OCIA these days) by private tutoring until much later. That possibility was never mentioned. However, I learned how to become part of the community through RCIA, which I don't regret at all. You don't quite get that by flying solo.

I'd never seen the Jansson illustration before. That really is great, in a completely unexpected way.

Being a nerd, I avoided being shoved into a locker by becoming too darn fat. I was shaped like a basketball and had the powers of Stretch Armstrong. Eat it, jocks. Also, Star Trek began in 1928 issues of Weird Tales. You cannot prove me wrong. I say bye bye now. Bye bye. ๐Ÿคฃ

Converts -- myself included -- can be pretty annoying at times. We read & studied our way in, &, often continued a pattern we already had. We learned chapter & verse of theology, but not always what it meant when lived compassionately around real humans. Thus, "more Catholic than the Pope."

Inkwells made room for better pens, better handwriting, better art, and it gave the mind a brief rest when the pen nib needed to be replenished.

@dannykodicek.bsky.social has it right. Popes often speak with authority, but they very, very rarely lean on the infallibility thing. As power hungry as hoomans tend to be, I'm actually surprised by that.

Someone made a false equivalence argument today, posting several "Obama Jesus" pictures, accusing people of being hypocrites for not being outraged by those in the past. The difference is, Obama never posted any of that nonsense HIMSELF. Or trashed the Pope. Or posted Pope Obama memes.

I opt for nekkid olives when possible. I agree with all of your reasons why olives are the perfect night snack.

At this point, he could sh00t the Pope at St. Peter's and he wouldn't lose any voters.

I grew up in a small town, almost all white. I think I was almost an adult before I heard about local Klan activity. Then it all made sense.

Books, movies, TV, & pro wrestling generally teach us that the good guys always win, & if they don't, they were cheated. After being cheated, the heroes come back to win in the sequel. Guess who the good guys are in their story? Yup. And so here we are.

Twelve Years A Slave. They took a great book with lots of heart and emotion, and then ignored the best parts. In real life, when Solomon finally arrived home, his wife was so excited that she ran home from her job to meet him. The movie robbed us of that scene, and other genuine moments.

I agree. I spent years making my own paint from jars of pigments. It was incredibly freeing to be able to make whatever I wanted without having to go back to the store for more art supplies.

I've never used mars black in watercolor, so I wasn't aware of the granulation. Makes sense, though.
