My records will last as long as I care for them. Same with my CDs, DVDs, and physical books.
BLUESKY IS A WEBSITE THAT TURNS (post by jay.bsky.team claiming that bluesky is made with AI) INTO (picture of bluesky not working)
A small black cat sitting on a desk in front of a keyboard and monitor.
Little kitty is getting so big so quickly! The last of her baby teeth fell out last week. She’s in her terrible teenager stage now: getting into everything she knows she’s not supposed to get into, testing limits and pushing boundaries and really trying my patience. Still the best kitty ever though.
A set of screenshots from DEEP SPACE NINE. An old Klingon throws his arms around Dax and shouts "Curzon, my beloved old friend!" Dax returns the hug and says "I'm Jadzia now." The Klingon grabs her shoulders, smiles, and says "Jadzia, my beloved old friend!"
Star Trek figured this out thirty years ago. It's not hard. Even an old, drunk Klingon got it.
I’ve noticed traffic has been a bit lighter the last few days than typical. I can’t help but wonder if people are already feeling the squeeze. It’s going to be so bad in a couple weeks.
"Spending on the welfare state is spending on a promise to take care of one another, the sort of thing many Canadians believe a country exists for in the first place."
Yes. A society progresses only when its' lowest members are lifted up.
photo showing the rescuers saving the dog, next to the statue commemorating them
closeup on the base of the statue, showing a dog and a man in a ball cap
the top of the statue, where the person at the top of the slope has his hand outstretched so the viewer can "help" pull him up
in 2016 a group of strangers in Kazakhstan saved a dog from drowning by forming a human chain to reach him. they just unveiled a statue commemorating the event and I'm genuinely about to start sobbing
A five month old black cat asleep on its side. Her head is resting on her left arm. Her mouth is slightly open and her tongue is falling out of her mouth.
Kitty.
One last time, Discord is not a suitable replacement for forums:

Oh active hobbies are zero. Yay burnout
Unmedicated ADHD, mostly. I’m not good at any of my hobbies but I’ve got dozens of them.
if you watch or support this you're a bad person btw. i'm not arguing with you about it either
Goldman Sachs reports that 300 million full-time jobs could be replaced by AI by 2030. Labor turnover is high and hiring has slowed. 71% of Americans worry that AI will cause permanent job loss. As young people about to enter the workforce for the first time, the fear of unemployment is understandable, but we cannot save ourselves with the very tool that is putting us at risk. The irony is that as Penn pours endless money and energy into AI advancement in its attempt to get ahead, the University is only quickening its own demise. AI cannot coexist with education — it can only degrade it. As technology advances and workers are replaced by machines, schools are some of the only places we have left to explore and wrestle with human thought. With our own university leading the charge, AI is now corrupting those few sacred spaces and leaving us with nowhere to engage in true scholarship. An unaccounted for part of the economy is how much young people virulently hate AI, despite how aggressively it's being forced on them. They realize it's making their friends dumber and ruining the world and they want nothing to do with it.

Lotus is likely going to be among the first since there’s already at least some brand recognition in North America (even if it’s not the same company at all.) Volvo also is going to bring in Chinese-made Polestars. So at least it’s not all Teslas. driving.ca/auto-news/in...
BYD is fast tracking a distribution network as we speak. Of course I can’t find the article at the moment but it sounded like they had plans in place prior to tariffs introduced back around 2017 or so and are more-or-less resuming their original plans.
Need to figure out a new routine that I can time more easily with charging lol.
I charge my car once a week at the gym. The most annoying part with that is BC Hydro dropped their idle grace period to 5 minutes and my car always finished charging when I have 7 minutes left on the elliptical. Annoying to have to run outside, unplug, find a new spot, then finish my workout…
I can’t install a charger at home. But there’s a fast charger at most grocery stores near me, an abundance of charging stations at the community centredown the street from me, and a plethora of options along the highways across the province.

Music and black cats kinda Saturday night.
these super low profile thumb braces are the reason i can play video games again and i did a lot of searching to find them. no provider recommended them to me for video games! none of them really knew what to do about gaming. i don't want to gatekeep!

see?
here's the thing. A lot of people are like, the earth is fucked, it's beyond salvation, it's hit the tipping point, but time and time again we see that if we just fucking fixed the problem, it rebounds so incredibly fast. Imagine what could be done if people actually cared

The book covers of Dune and Dune Messiah photoshopped to change the titles Dune becomes “Paul is Bad” Dune Messiah becomes “OK I Guess I Wasn’t Clear…”
“We can’t ‘food bank’ our way out of food insecurity, we can’t ‘decrease food waste’ our way out of food insecurity, we can’t ‘smart shopping’ our way out of food insecurity."
^ Really appreciated this quote from Gerry Kasten, a retired honorary lecturer in food, nutrition and health at UBC.
Adam Baldwin was literally *the* guy who named GamerGate and made it go viral. It was just some loser 4chan/incel YouTuber shit before then. They spammed him to get his attention because they knew he’s also a psycho loser and they wanted to make it go viral, and he did it. And it worked.
He looks like all of the brothers from malcom in the middle rolled into one
