"A government which deliberately enacts injustice, and persists in it, will at length ever become the laughingstock of the world.β

Fifty years ago, the @torontobluejays.bsky.social hosted their official home opener at Exhibition Stadium. I was not there. BUT...I DID attend the Jays SkyDome opener in 1989. Anne Murray sang the national anthem. And ironically, Paul Molitor played the spoiler...in a Milwaukee uniform.

Whatever happened to good sportsmanship? Nobody seems to talk about it any more...
Whatever happened to good sportsmanship, class, and r-e-s-p-e-c-t...? What message does this send to the many youth who look to pro athletes for how to behave...? I hope the Pelicans discipline Dejounte Murray, or get him some counselling.
It warmed my Canadian heart hearing the kind words spoken downunder in the Australian Parliament this week, re: the long standing relationship between Canada and Australia, --two Commonwealth 'cousin' nations. Canadians heard & appreciate your kindness! Thank you!

"Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't lose. And it's an unreliable guide to the future."

Our local radio station was asking listeners: 'What book, video game, etc. should be made into a movie or TV show?' I suggested a book that was released before social media was a thing for a lot of people, --who now put their entire life online.

"IF every day is a 'SALE!' (screamed loudly via a metaphoric megaphone), the word 'sale' loses its meaning, relevance, and impact."

C'mon guys. Not EVERYTHING is actual breaking news. More like a regular ol' story. The kind of stuff we catch at the top of the hour update, or a little further down the pegboard. You're risking desensitizing your readers, listeners & viewers by making it such commonplace.

'Break News": Rarely does an hour pass without those 2 words popping up on one of my screens screaming for my attention. It feels like an obsession in newsrooms, --as if journalists & editors everywhere are now fixated on them like some new form of literary crack cocaine.

In this nanosecond world we live in, --over-saturated with competition from every corner of the globe-- a great many media newsrooms have become hooked on two little words: 'Breaking News'.

βThere will come a time when you are challenged, and when that time comes, you must plant your feet. You must stand firm. You must make a point. About who you are, what you do, and where you come from. When that time comes, you do it.β

RiM/BlackBerry's "BBM" is/was my all-time favourite messaging app. It was waaaay ahead of any competitor back in the day. Sadly, it was discontinued in the spring of 2019.

I really don't understand why the U.S. President feels it was important for him to publish his personal critique of a cultural event, --in this case a concert at a football game. Shouldn't he have more pressing items on his agenda to be doing, --like, I dunno, managing the affairs of the country?

Spotted this Rick Mercer book on the shelf back in August 2024. With a more traditional winter providing additional motivation (to stay indoors) I *finally* got around to reading it. I never tire of his special brand of CanCon humour!
