Got bored tonight, so I downloaded 3 hours worth of Earthcam replay / archive footage from their Skydeck camera atop of the Willis Tower (Sears Tower) in Chicago and made a time lapse of the fog rolling in off Lake Michigan. Good illustration of how our atmosphere behaves like any other fluid. #ilwx
The way I read it was [obs with measurable rain + 33-35 temps] / [all obs]. Maybe I was misinterpreting it?
This is really neat! I wonder how it'd change if it was the percentage of all obs with measurable precipitation instead of the percentage of all obs?
The only ones I can think of right away (in terms of "good environment / not much NWP support for CI") are central OK on 4/19/23 and SW KS on 5/17/19.

What sits with me after this week of #AMS2026 is that despite everything we’ve seen over the last 12 months, the science is resilient. It is hurt and handicapped and hamstrung but it endures. And the students, despite EVERYTHING **still** want to work for NWS or in broadcasting.
