Sval is a tempered of Gunhildr. While the defeat of the primal broke her hold on him, he is still forced into acting in ways that are in line with her ideals.
Sval is able to prime into a very powerful pseudo-primal state, but it exchanges his body and will to do so. Ideally temporarily...

I've been playing through Halo, chronologically, starting with Reach.
The bungie era of Halo had a special way of telling their story and mythos that is miles above pretty much any shooter story now (ignoring Halo 3) and for the time was only beat by Spec Ops: The Line for me

They keep referencing it in xenoblade so I hope they do.
