Muskism "Muskism cuts straight to the core of the man and the moment, explaining how a mercurial, conspiracy-prone, vicious bastard can inspire loyalty and bil...

dramatic evidence here for a key point of the newly-released book MUSKISM: Musk isn't a libertarian trying to live and do business outside of the state, he is a colonizer of the state, bending it to his personal interests

Tesla has only ever acknowledged $48 million in US tax obligations, for the calendar year 2023

What a remarkable investment this company has been for US taxpayers: billions in loans and subsidies, zero taxes, rampant lawbreaking, and not even trying to sell EVs anymore

Musk scorned “shady” loopholes, yet offshore tax tricks likely saved Tesla hundreds of millions When Tesla released its annual report for U.S. regulators in January, the Texas-based automaker, led by the world’s richest man, reported a federal tax bill of zero dollars for 2025.

After more than $250 billion in revenue and billions more in subsidies, Tesla has never paid taxes... that's thanks in part to tactics like pretending $18b in profits came from places like Singapore and the Netherlands

So if I read this closely enough, we are currently under a system called “Top-of-the-Slidism”.

“Another way to look at this is that billionaires have joined a war on professional administrative class of public servants precisely because of their proximity to formal mechanisms of accountability.”

That part! Everything from documentation to compliance mechanisms to whistleblowing is a threat.

Sue away. Discovery will be magical.

It's not so much that Bezos refuses to pay fair taxes, it's that politicians have allowed him not to. We must fix this.

💯. And it’s a line that will be tested and pushed against over and over until they get over it. And it’s a one way ratchet.

Yes. As you’ve not been shy in saying, it’s thin skinned and prone to purity tests.

Performative clown. Pennsylvania elected the kid who ate his boogers as their Senator.

💯. It was a very angry time in the lower to middle class manufacturing town I was growing up in. It was that anger that created Reagan democrats. And in turn got us on the greed is good treadmill we are still on. It was that anger that put a bullet in the FDR era mind set.

The least on the list of horribles, but his disrespect of expertise extends to tailors. Won’t someone tell him he’s buying his suits 2 sizes too small?

Oz is the same person he’s always been over the last 15 years —> now he just has power.

Disappointed to see how many people sane wash the guy for profit motives.

He continues to say ridiculous and embarrassing statements in an attempt masquerade as a serious person.

He is a charlatan.

100% for rectifying unequal tax situation. IMO, a wealth tax isn’t it. It’ll allow way too many to slip through the net. (And FWIW will never pass into law). Rationalize what is categorized as income (capital gains, stock buy backs, loans against existing wealth, etc are all income) and use system.

If you paid even a penny in federal income tax last year, you paid more than:

Tesla
Southwest
Disney
Live Nation
HP
United
PayPal
CVS Health
Palantir
Citigroup
PG&E
3M

That's right. They paid $0 in federal income tax.

It's time for big corporations to pay their fair share.

Is there a German word for the willful hiring or appointment of known incompetents? Consciously choosing demonstrated clowns and failures? It’s some kind of a weird kink.

I’m inclined to think it is more the unlikability than the controversy that may be the marketing liability.
