I hate leaving things unfinished, so after an 8 year hiatus I’m working on a definitive finale to my high school webcomic Kingfisher.
I had 7 sheets of A3 paper taped together to form 150 chapters worth of story for this series, the aim here is to abridge all of that into a special final chapter.

Some Savage Dragon stuff on the way. Love seein' Malcolm and the kids. Love Torment and Buffalo Stu. Love Maxine. Just great shit!
There are a few. Savage Dragon 104 & 105 have comic strips in them with something of that vibe. In SD 120 Angel and Mr. Glum go trick-or-treating as Calvin and Hobbes, SD 236 has alternating Sunday strip pages that are reminiscent of it and SD 252 has a straight up Calvin & Hobbes Sunday homage.
Here's the process for my Youngblood 100 cover:
Step one: pencilled the image, then outlined the figures and background with a marker, giving it a dead line.
Step two: erased the pencils.
Step three: added shadows with a blush.
Step four: added rendering and detail with a Hunt 102 and white out.
A two page spread from today!
This one’s from issue 39, which’ll be coming out… February of next year?
Or later this year if you pick up volume 5, coming to Kickstarter when I finish the thing!
For any comic creators out there who get waves of feeling like they’re wasting their time and their work is a piece of shit- don’t believe it!!
I’ve been having bouts of this lately, feeling like it’s all for nothing, but it always passes eventually. There’s inherent value to the act of creation-
FLATS: Try flats for stuff like this. It tends to work better.
I am not okay with that. Sam was an absolute sweetheart and a terrific artist. That is tragic.
Nirvanna the band the show the movie rocks!!!
I hate variant covers, I hate foil covers, I hate holo covers, I hate new issue 1’s every 6 months and I ESPECIALLY hate mystery bags-
Corporate comics, just make good books and maybe *then* you’ll sell a lot of them, just a suggestion, just my opinion
The recent Golden Age-sized DC reprints are actually slightly larger than real Golden Age comic books.
At the same time, the interior art is being reproduced proportionately too small. Actual Golden Age comic books didn’t have such gigantic margins.
NEW RAVEN'S DOJO! RODNEY VS SAVAGE DRAGON! PG 1342! NONE was behind all the trouble!! But who is None? Let's hear it from the man himself! PG 1343 is in yer inbox for those who sub! www.ravensdojo.com
DC's best logo was their logo from '72-74. Marvel's best logo is their current one.
Both are easy to read. Both look good when reduced in size. Both are a bit boring but that's fine--they should be boring and unobtrusive. They shouldn't be competing for attention with their book logos.
A panel from today- down to the last few pages of issue 38!
NEW RAVEN'S DOJO! RODNEY VS SAVAGE DRAGON ENDING! PG 1343! Ready for a happy ending? Special thanks to @eriklarsen.bsky.social for this opportunity. Real dream come true. Thanks to @craig-in-philly.bsky.social and @jamesqpurcell.bsky.social for the fincast. I know it played a part! (Thanks cont)
A glimpse of the cover of issue 38, the first issue of 2027!
They sayin' it's chainsaw man inspo... but I wonder if that's all.
Shadowhawk getting into a fight with Brawn, accidentally magically summoning Dragon, Invincible, Witchblade, and Spawn.
Shadowhawk summoning Dragon, Invincible, Witchblade, and Spawn to fight an alien moleman type invasion.
Shadowhawk accidently summoning Dragon, Invincible, Witchblade, and Spawn for a third time. But now Witchblade has no armor, Dragon has no arms, Spawn has no head, and Invincible is wearing blue.
There was this great bit in Savage Dragon 144, where every panel represented a day in the life of Dragon and his family, and new Shadowhawk kept magically summoning Dragon, Invincible, Witchblade, and Spawn to him whenever he ran into a jam, much to their annoyance.
It's cool. I'll buy it. But I SUUUUUURE WISH it was Malcolm. I'll be real -- Anyone who was gonna buy a Savage Dragon from McFarlane toys would probably be just as likely (or even more likely) to buy a Malcolm. That said --- Coolness all the same.
Finished work on issue 37 tonight!
A sneaky peek of my story in the new @thegreatcomictree.bsky.social Anthology, now funding on Kickstarter!!

The theme this time is alternate universes, so from me this time, it’s Kid Eastwood and Butterball, but they’re eeeeeevil! Check it out!

I read the first run of Baki for the first time yesterday!
So cool, so violent, so ridiculous!! Just about everything I want from a fighting manga!
Now to find the rest while avoiding those terrible Wild Fang scans.
