Way to go Columbia for hosting COP16, the 2024 UN Biodiversity Summit with the goal of protecting 30% of the world's land and see by 2030. While not breaking news, it still makes me happy.

Those facing the harshest and most immediate impacts of #climatechange are the ones that have the quietest voice at the table. A financial target cannot go forward at #COP29 without guarantees for small island nations and developing countries.
The stated focus (for Ramaswamy at least) is savings by cutting employees. But the size of the federal govt in terms of employees is about where it was in 1960, even tho it is doing way more. As a % of the population, it is historically low. Most *civilian* employees are in defense/security sector.
