This is good to hear. A comforting constant in the midst of a crazy world. 🤣

So we're bringing this battle over to Bluesky are we? 😂 Is Tobias over here?

I moved back to @instapaper.com which does the job perfectly. I only moved off it a few years ago after the service in the UK went offline due to them not complying with GDPR rules. Even better, it works with my Kobo eBook.

I look forward to a future podcast in which we'll hear a fair assessment.

I completely accept that increased tax for EVs is coming; they have to make up the loss in fuel duty somehow but this feels rushed and poorly thought out.

Perhaps removing all the oil company subsidies would be a good start.

Thanks for posting Oliver. I'll take a look at this later.

I was holding off updating due to the breaking changes but hit the update the other day. I swapped dispatch for off-peak entity so hopefully you'll explain the free and saving session changes. I noted that we have until May.

I was just reading about that. $25 billion though! 🤯

I've just had the email. I've used this app for years. It just worked. I could easily save articles for easy reading later on my ebook.

Very informative

Can someone explain to our former prime minister Tony Blair that carbon capture and storage does not effing work. It’s the shoddiest bit of crap misinformation from the fossil lobby that Tony is clearly benefiting from . . . allegedly.

I’m glad to see this article but it’s after 24 hours of unchallenged corporate guff dominating the news cycle. Tony Blair is a tech lobbyist who is literally writing naive, venal & dangerous policy for Starmer’s government. Call it out.

Really enjoying your photos Sam. What would be great is if you were able to add the What3Words address to the post text.

Made me smile as I walked past as I recalled your post. That Elterwater loop via Slater Bridge is one of our favourites. The view up the valley over Lansdale Tarn is fantastic.

I was correct. We walked past Stang End today and the car is still there. 🙂

I could be wrong but I think I know where this is. They must live nearby because if it's where I think it is then it's parked there so often when we walk past, it should be marked on the OS map!

Stang End by any chance?

Why the UK’s electricity costs are so high – and what can be done about it From nationalising gas plants to boosting renewables, how soaring prices could be tackled

This is *really* important: the reason electricity prices are high is the high cost of gas & that market rate is set by gas prices. One of the loudest calls at Everything Electric last week was to decouple from gas prices, so we benefit from cheaper renewables.

Very nice. And no doubt very tasty too. Happy Easter. This was our Easter view this morning.

That was a really interesting talk today. Thanks for sharing. Great points on job candidates knowledge too. A degree ≠ competency. It frustrates me how so many tech jobs demand a degree in the requirements when in practice it's often not required.

Some do, perhaps, but I'd put money on some Brits doing the same, so don't fret over it there are arrogant folk everywhere.

It's worth 20 minutes of your time to listen to this TED talk from @carolecadwalla.bsky.social who, given what she went through after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, it's very brave to be highlighting the next scandal but I'm grateful that she is.

£63.5M so far this month. Which is absolutely crazy.

Did have the reMarkable 2 which was great. Swapped within the 100 day return for the reMarkable Pro, also great but then changed jobs where I found it wasn't an approved device due to some data and system insecurities so that went back luckily within the 100 days as I got mainly as a business tool.

I have the Kobo Libre Colour and it's great. I got the stylus which is useful for marking up documents. Nice size, good display and battery life excellent. The integration with Dropbox, GDrive and Pocket swung it for me. Very pleased with it.
