EU augments opportunities for scientists around the world to launch or re-launch their careers in Europe.
In line with our expectations, we found marked changes in markers of mitochondrial function and in energy status of hearts from people with Barth syndrome. Confirming this in this unique tissue sample is a major step forward and hopefully one of the building blocks on our path to therapy.
First of all, we are super grateful to the affected individuals and their families for the courageous decision to share their heart for research purposes. And to the Barth Syndrome Foundation for orchestrating the biobank at University of Florida, as well as their financial support! ππΌ
We publish our multi-omics analyses of cardiac samples obtained from people with Barth syndrome, in comparison to hearts from people without heart failure.
