I used to work with a guy who had an elaborate theory about how American evangelicalism is a uniquely American folk religion with a somewhat tenuous connection to Christianity as the rest of the world practices it. I should see what he thinks about the news lately.
they got the Church of England supporting the Pope now

It's because they are also Ops....
Black folks gotta start gatekeeping more effectively. It’s generation of y’all that literally cannot WAIT to share and explain some shit to white folks and I’ll never understand it.
Jett’s so smitten that he doesn’t know what to do with himself. And Leslie is genuine in her desire to see how he lives. He’s not that much younger than her; she was only 21 or 22 when she married Bick, who’s supposed to be 25. 🙃

this is the chaplain btw. wonder why he was fired.
In the book, Bick is anti-Black as well as anti-Mexican. He uses…that word that starts with “n” frequently and is shocked when Leslie’s father, Dr. Lynnton, speaks to the workers with respect and not condescension or cruelty.

The source book for this is my favorite Edna Ferber book after “Come and Get It,” the latter of which I still hold should have won the Pulitzer.

The manuscript for “Thelma Ritter: Hollywood’s Favorite New Yorker” has been sent to the publisher for review. Working on photos and captions as I type…😉
I can’t wait!
Me, too! I don’t think his passing got the attention it should have; he was very talented and was always showing up and giving great performances. And was so friendly in real life, from what I’ve heard.
Closeup of Lupino under an arched doorway, looking up with eyes wide open and mouth open in an expression of enthusiasm.
Ida Lupino in 1935 as the “heart interest of Harold Lloyd in ‘The Milky Way.’” Lupino had to drop out of this film due to illness.
This is some sick soulless bs.
Those poor children deserve compassion, dignity, and respect ❤️🩹
I’m late; sorry. They can’t appreciate the arts because their value system is warped. They make no differentiation between a Rosalind Russell film and something like “90 Day Fiancé Season 447.” And they prize the latter more because it makes more immediate money. It’s sick and empty.
Kubrick’s letter to the head of MGM when he was informed that MGM was considering making a sequel to 2001 is one of the best letters written by an artist to a corporate executive ever.

Is anyone who is already calling Texas aware that the majority of votes in are early in person and day of votes and by mail are pretty much not in anywhere?
Which is really fucking weird by the way
IT IS LITERALLY TOO EARLY TO CALL
White progressives have been kind of gross toward Jasmine Crockett and her supporters. And yet, are going to expect Black voters to just fall in line in November. Which will be wild to watch from the "earn our votes" crowd. So, lots of luck with that.
A woman's work is never done: The Laundress, 1863. Heavy burden of labor silhouetted against brilliance of city. By Honore Daumier, whose day is today.
That is a beautifully-written piece, no? And I like how the author keeps emphasizing Dirty Veneers’ greed and utter incompetence.
Drawing hearts over his head.
