The rabbi's article describes groups active at the time and how they fit together. The Christian scriptures attributes actions to those groups but doesn't describe Pharisees as the leaders. That comes from post-biblical exegesis that probably started when the christ-followers separated from Judaism

You seem to be verging into repeating the Christian biases here. The Pharisees mostly disappear from narrative once Jesus reaches Jerusalem and isn't part of the deicide libel. But the need for the Pharisees to be what Jesus defeats they get inserted in the retellings where they aren't in the text
In olden times, you'd walk into a shop and look at, say, a cake, decide not to buy it, and walk out of the shop safe in the knowledge that nobody would be following you around with the cake for the next 6 weeks just in case you change your mind.
