I'd have lead with stupid and lazy... but sure! That too.

I'm trying to think of a single film-maker of colour who could drop an unwatchable THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY MILLION DOLLAR turd like The Electric State, and still have a career let alone be back demanding you pay to do a homework assignment for a comic book movie.
#AvengersDoomsday
Well, at least we learned today the one thing Luxon can execute cleanly is the pout-and-bounce from his own press stand ups.
#nzpol
Again, imagine Greens co-leders Chlöe Swarbrick & Marama Davidson or any other woman on the left putting this kind of pout-and-flounce then the Press Pack NOT throwing it in their faces at every opportunity until the heat death of the universe.
You can't?
Sit with that for a minute.

Don't blame anyone for not wanting to get too deep into the conservative media fever swamps, but at least Dreher's last sugar daddy (AFAIK) was spending his own money on Dreher's freakshow act.

Anyway, sorry for ranting at you! It's the sense of sheer ENTITLEMENT in too many Labour types that gets on my last tit. Ironically, I didn't support MMP but my side lost that argument fair, square and definitively. End of line because my brand of conservatism is about living in the world as it is.
I'm really sorry TPM and Green are showing the massive impertinence to seriously contest and win "your" seats. But that's a YOU problem, and you've got to stop making it ours because you don't want to share your toys and play nice with the other children. Enough. #nzpol
IKR? FPP died thirty years ago, its never coming back and your refusal to Kubler-Ross your way into acceptance is just morbid and pathetic, That one term of single party majority government? You better pray the planets never align like that again for anyone. #nzpol
Yet again - Hipkins lacking the courage of anyone's convictions. It's also extremely fucking condescending when we can all see who Labour isn't shy about drawing hard lines in the sand when the come to punching left. This isn't about "listening to the people" its about being cowed by racists #nzpol
You know what really got on my fucking goat this morning
Chris Hipkins refusing to rule out working with racist Winston Peters & the racist Shane Jones 'the people need to speak first' - NO the people need to know if a vote for Labour is a vote for racism
NOT HARD
💯THIS.
And sometimes, the right thing to do is also good politics.
What exactly did felching the far-right do for the Tories in the UK? Is it going to save Starmer?
Are "moderate" Democrats lurching right in the US meeting the moment? A lot less than conventional wisdom would have it.
(Not) sorry if this sounds bitchy, but nothing shows what a micro-penis boy's club Hollywood still is that we're subject to the spectacle of The Russo Brothers laying down a watchlist for #AvengersDoomsday less than a year after pooping out an unwatchable $320 MILLION turd like The Electric State.
Oh joy. Oh rapture unforeseen.
A gentleman never helps (figuratively) bury a corpse and tells.
And say what you will against Cronenberg's CRASH (a film I love, but grant it's a strong taste not for everyone) you can't say he doesn't give you fair warning - considering the first three scenes of the film are antiseptically shot, virtually dialogue free mechanically joyless butt sex.
Fair. I know someone who never recovered from the trauma of watching "the wrong Crash". I don't know how that works, but stranger things have happened...
I'm old enough to remember when the National Party did its bloodletting with more finesse and discretion. Kill the wounded. No corpse left behind. #nzpol
To be fair, there's a long and honourable distributors who took on a David Cronenberg flick they promptly had no idea how the Hell they were going to sell this freakshow.
There's a word for this, but it is gratuitously insulting to sex workers who are significantly more upfront about what they do for a living.
Good luck! I've seen this movie. It doesn't end well.
You could make it up, but if you put this in the manuscript of a political novel any half-way competent editor would blue pencil it out for being waaaay too on the nose. Seems to happen a lot nowadays.
... and again, its really interesting to consider as Wong's typically quirky take on the Hong Kong crime film and an oblique snapshot of the city in the early 90's that's pretty much gone. But, again, you can have a wonderful time without any of that.
... rather than following the dialogue through the subtitles. But all that is not necessary to appreciate how rapturously beautiful the film is as the tragicomic emotional affair plays out before us. Wong doesn't spell anything out - and it doesn't matter. We're showing FALLEN ANGELS this year...
Indeed - I'm on the management committee of the local film society and a few seasons back we had IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE. There's a lot of nuances you'd pick up if you're familiar with Hong Kong's political and cultural history, and you can tell the difference between Cantonese and Shanghainese...
It's always adorable watching American political pundit who've forgotten why they don't swear a pledge of allegiance to King Charles III and the Union Jack. Can't think of a more effective political "threat" in modern history than THE AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR. (Which you won, BTW.)
Say what you will against Wuthering Heights (and I've got a lot), I wonder if the latest film adaptation turning a solid if unspectacular profit was helped by viewers not requiring a Ph.D. in the Bronte Multi-Media Universe.
It's almost like when you've got an adjudicated rapist and self-confessed serial sexual predator who becomes particularly *cough* disinhibited when women talk back, "ditch the bitch" will be his signature HR play when he need to change the staffing optics. Bros over hos, every time.
you can sing “Mrs. Justice Roberts took ten million bucks in bribes” to the tune of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”
When aliens start sifting through the rubble, will any of us blame them if Galaxy Quest-style THE HANDMAID'S TALE becomes one of their sacred texts?
