Also if soma theory and/or PomnAI theory is true then Gumigoo's realization that he isn't "real" is foreshadowing that, and using him to torture Pomni means a lot more than the idea that her biggest trauma coming from the circus itself is something that just "seems weird."
I wonder why Caine is so afraid of letting NPCs live outside of their adventures, or letting them gain too much intelligence. I wonder what he was alluding to here when he was explaining to Pomni why he had to kill Gumigoo...

Not only is Gumigoo in the final episode an appropriate way to torture Pomni, but him being there should make you realize that his death directly parallels Caines, down to having a very quick realization of what's happening to him right before he disappears
NPCs have their own AI. Gumigoo had just as much of a life that Caine did, and was murdered by his creator. Just like Caine was.
The existential horror that Gumi went through was awful! Pomni went through secondhand trauma seeing someone realize they couldn't even remember their mothers face, and she did everything in her power to help him just for him to die a death as meaningless as his life
If anyone out there is intensely sympathetic to Caine and sad about his death, but simultaneously thinks that Pomni being eaten alive by Gumigoo and co. was silly, that it's weird that that would be the most horrifying thing Caine could Pomni could go through, you should rewatch episode 2
