With the closure on Broadway, drivers are rat running along 10th and completely ignoring the modal filter on Manitoba St, so we tried adding our own sign maybe it will help 😭

Or... the City could actually do something? (Meeting with them tomorrow!)

Capitalism has brain rotted an entire populace into thinking you need to be able to get face cream, a lamp shade & dish soap delivered to your house within 24 hours or else a hate crime has been committed.

Your à la carte living has made you anti-social, isolated & an environmental menace.

i love using these diy ink brushpens, they're so sloppy and imprecise that it's impossible to be a perfectionist about my marks

I think the greatest trick for getting good at creative work i know is - finish making as many mediocre things as possible. Just finish stuff, again and again. Share it or don’t, but put a bow on it, put it aside, make the next thing, repeat.

One last point: When governments talk about "age verification," they also mean "identity verification"

So even if you're 55 years old, you will be virtually carded and all your social media activity will be linked to your identity. That means no online anonymity and raises privacy issues for adults

This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

While overall crime continues to trend down, traffic fatalities more than tripled year-over-year up to Q3 2025.

Remember this come the October municipal election when certain predictable narratives about crime start emerging.

BC has eliminated its long-running Climate Action Secretariat.

At least 10 staff members have been sent to work on pipelines and oil and gas.

Meanwhile, this month the City of Vancouver also scrapped its sustainability department.

It's going to be a very hard summer for so many people and so many species. We can already feel here in BC, with the weak snowpack currently washing down mountains because of an unseasonable atmospheric river. The only ones doing well are the oil companies, with their record war profits.

Ken Sim, October 8, 2025: “Some have called this an austerity motion, but let me be very clear, it is not. Austerity means cutting services.”

As reported today, lifeguard services will be cut from 5 of 10 beaches.
