A picture of a rather dilapidated copy of "The picture of Dorian Gray" There is visible water damage to the cover and the plastic cover is yellowing. Obviously, not evident from the picture but there is a truly foul musty smell emanating from it!
Last week, a gentleman returned this rather dilapidated copy of this famous book to us after 50 years. He had found it in his attic!
Presumably this means there is a pristine copy somewhere in our libraries....

Obviously I’ve got skin in the game so can’t be trusted, but this is shaping up to be the most absolutely epic event I’ve been involved with.
"...I spotted an untended loaf on the back of a handcart and I’d seen it under my shirt before any other thief could claim it for his own" Hackle, a youth with prospects as bad as Oliver Twist's goes for a blood-curdling dare in

Against a dark green background with autumnal leaves and branches, a 3D hardback of THE GODS MUST BURN by T. R. Moore. Below, white text: “There are stories that stay with you forever and The Gods Must Burn is one of them. The mythology is so layered and rich, the romance is angsty and soaring and epic, and T.R. Moore’s prose is gorgeous and lyrical, yet unflinching—the result is a true masterpiece. This book tore my heart out and put it back together again and it was an honor.” — Thea Guanzon, New York Times and #1 international bestselling author The Hurricane Wars

My very pleasure, Fiona. Thank you for choosing Ovid for your protagonist and bringing him to life.
Louisa, the cat. Only a cat would be able to impose their superiority on a hive of equals.
A rare feast of a thoroughly entertaining whodunnit matured to perfection in Ancient Rome. My thoughts on Written in Blood by @fionawriter.bsky.social

The first miracle of Easter:
Under an old oak in the fields where Dog chases squirrels, Husband made a Winnie the Poohesque sign to show the postman where the squirrels live.
Two days later the sign was stolen.
Yesterday it was returned. A miracle or what?

When grandchildren visited in summer, I read to them Peter Rabbit. At first they found it hard to get to grips with the antiquated language, but soon they got the rhythm and rhyme of it, and loved it. Because language isn't just a sum total of words and stories transcend time.
