This update should have been a layup. At least 3 teams have established this precedent, so all you had to do was not Galaxy Brain yourself into “looking back to move forward.”
Ditch the spear and move on, you dummies.

They 100% know what they’re doing, but since they didn’t *technically say* R*dskins, they throw their hands up disingenuously like “wHy iS eVeRyOnE uPsEt?”
Most importantly, it’s obvious to EVERYONE that you’re referencing an explicitly racist name, trying to appease the people who want that back for some reason. All you’ve done is created a firestorm.
You *just* got the Snyder stink off you. Why do something this clumsy when the team isn’t winning enough to make it moot?
As for the bigger issue, why on Earth would you open this can of worms? Commanders, in the sense that you have been loud and clear about, have nothing to do with spears, so there is only one thing you could possibly be referencing, and you’re even doing that poorly.

Now, the alternate logo. We’ll get into the bigger issues, but first, what is this thing even doing? Is the spear going through the W? Is it going around the spires? Something being this obtuse on purpose is not remotely in line with everything else. Is it AI?!
Third, the black uniforms. Nobody *needs* a black alternate. There are too many uniforms in pro sports, but if you have to have an alternate, do something less trite.
Second, the classics are SO much better than what they rolled out with clumsy military-adjacent motifs and awkward halftones. Bucs, Falcons, and Jets all wised up too. These work for a reason.
Just caught wind of the Commanders’ uniform/logo update. First, no issue with returning to the “classic” uniform style. Yes, it’s associated with The Bad Name, but taking the name off was the simplest goal in the first place. Also, that template is timeless across the league.
Overall, big upgrade with a few nitpicks. One of these times we’ll get a powder blue helmet. Ahh well.
Miami Dolphins uniform
Tennessee Titans uniform
The white facemask and the wide middle stripe makes them look like the Dolphins.
What’s wrong is the six-string motif. That probly could’ve been achieved with 6 regular stripes (they likely tried it!), but as is the strings work on the sleeves and pants fine enough. The BIG problem is…
Unis: It’s *really* hard to screw up this approach. People love throwbacks for a reason. We prefer 2-4 lines of the same width, but the thin-wide-thin style ain’t wrong.
Colors: Powder blue never misses, and the red fits in better than before. Don’t miss the navy blue. Navy is a *vastly* overrated color in sports anyway.
A good amount of “needs something else” logo chatter out there. It’s often likely that the creative team already tried most if not all “what if” and “I wish they tried” and they didn’t work for whatever reason.
Logo: Honestly, it’s a small miracle the old flames were as good as they were, but they were also *a lot*. The logo is solid. Greater than the sum of its parts. The T isn’t super distinct, but it just needs to not be the Volunteers’ T.
Titans Uni 🧵! Yes, it’s the Oilers (that’s good!). Yes, they’re better than before. No, we’re not getting into if the Oilers should be with the Texans.
Anyway, it’s certainly better than expected given recent years, but it’s probably time to accept that this level is what we should expect from now on. Ahh well. Gives us something to do.
The promo video is great, but none of the themes in it really connect with the content of the logo. Are grit and tenacity synonymous with the California ocean?
Not trying to say any region’s pride is wrong, but how much of it is specifically LA?
New this time around is the inclusion of “Los Angeles.”
We’ll see if it’s just used here or officially a part of everything, but it’s reminiscent of the Clippers’ [whatever] edition unis.
Good-faith question: Has LA adopted that treatment generally?
Relative to the others, this one is nicely executed. Colors are compelling, ocean waves look nice, but overall it’s still a low ceiling.
It’s curious the frame of the numerals isn’t consistent year to year. Some, it’s chrome, some not.
Same layout that’s been around since LI, similar execution going back to LVI. We can say the league has been successful in their goal to feature the trophy consistently. Has it been worth it?
