I'm a lifelong fat girl and enjoyed reading Shrill. I have often felt supported by LIndy's writing as a fat person. That being said, the depth of her internalized fat hatred is shocking to me. It's on a level that I don't relate to.

They're telling you what they want and you can accept it or reject it. There's no reason for someone who wants monogamy to accept a relationship with someone who doesn't want that, and no reason for someone who wants to be polyamorous to accept monogamy if it's not what they want either. Having antagonistic positions is not either party coercing the other
Lindy West Discourse is one of those revealing ones where you've got one side using proper nouns and drawing pretty obvious, damning conclusions, and then there's another set of people generalizing to a degree that makes one wonder if they mean to preemptively excuse something they might do someday.

I have a complicated history with coercive polyamory, so I’ve been mostly steering clear of the whole Lindy West situation, but I can definitely tell you that I’m getting the vibe that some people are THRILLED to have an excuse to gang up on the fat lady and they aren’t especially subtle about it.

I believed everything Lindy West said about Aham being awesome, until I read that e-mail they sent. It's mean-spirited, wacko and out of touch with reality. I adore Liindy, but that's enough. I wish her good luck with all that and stuff, but I'm not buying this narrative anymore.

In the last few years, it got popular to slam Torrid in fat girl spaces online. I used to defend it. Not anymore! All the clothes look the same, are mostly frumpy, and are in a limited number of colors. They sell t-shirts that have holes in them and call it "distressed." Thanks, I hate it.
This is excellent & draws out something the rest of the media is ignoring: among other things, the Epstein files have made it super, super clear that the entire "anti-woke" cultural hysteria was engineered by powerful men averse to accountability.
