Square image showing a young golden retriever happily munching on a chew toy while stretched out on a rug in the top-right of the image. Below, in the center of our shot [& closer to the viewer] , a white geriatric boxer (whose former black-&-brown eye markings have almost completely faded to gray) stands, originally facing the younger fur-child. She's turned her gaze, though, and is staring into your soul with fierce side-eye. Why? Her sister is chewing on HER chosen toy. In the lower-right-corner of the image rests a pet-bed upon which have been heaped nearly A DOZEN other chew toys.

Two small sheets of scrap paper indicate mowing for lawns at "OLD HOUSE" & "NEW HOUSE," with directions indicating how cut would be observed visually with arrows [up & down, side-to-side, or crossed]. Old house racked-up eight mowings last yr [each taking just over 2 hrs, allowing for mower to cool]; new house got eightEEN [3 hrs each, w/cool--much larger yard].

Looking over my mowing log from last yr to see how much time elapsed between 1st & 2nd mowings [as I had to do Mom & Dad's "NEW" lawn already ladt Wednesday]--only to realize I didn't date each page until the 3rd time around...

EuroJesus (though with brown eyes, thankfully, instead of Warner Sallman's blue-eyed-variant) in a maroon beatnik-turtleneck, with a slightly-foreshortened-chin to compensate for a beard added over a non-bearded-sitter; illuminated in blue against a black background in this head-&-shoulders-portrait done in 1959. There's something unsettling about the overall appearance; & since it unsettles me for an unknown reason, I'm sharing it slightly further in hopes that someone else can better articulate that unease.

I find AI-Jesus particularly unsettling, & I grew up with innumerable unsettling Christ depictions--including this oil-on-canvas-rendition by a family member, ca. 1959 (which is plus/minus-the-Warner-Sallman-outstretched-arms-EuroJesus-version seen in most evangelicals' grandparents' sitting rooms)

Bow-to-bow-comparison of 1920 South Bend Watch (left) & 1922 South Bend Watch (right), both 12Size Grade411s; only the Sacred Heart version's been carried 1500% more than the white lead dial variant.

The timekeeping stem has seen an ASS-TON of wear; here's what it originally looked like on a 1922 version of a similar case (that's only been carried a month or so, overall)

Opened hand cradles a 12size gold-filled-case pocket watch, with pointed hands over an arabic numeral dial that's had its hand-painted-surface further customized by a flaming bleeding heart wreathed by a crown of thorns & topped with a cross. Custom paintjob is done in black & red & yellow. Watch is attached to a yellow gold fob faceted with expansions to make it appear like fish scales. Each of the 5 "scale" portions has been ended with a round top.

#TodaysTimepiece I'll probably trot-out all weekend: a 12Size South Bend Watch, Grade411, with a gorgeous Jugendstil arabic numeral paper dial has been augmented by a custom "Sacred Heart of Jesus" wreathed flaming heart crowned with a cross, ca. 1920

Late-night-scene at a downtown intersection, showing an early-20th-century brick business block (one of the businesses having a large clock out in front, curbside). The foot & vehicle traffic has been reduced to blurs & long lights, due to the long exposure.

Two teenage girls in bikinis are carried-aloft by their "bigs" (the aunts who match their birth-order in the previous generation) while swimming in a Michigan-freshwater-lake. The image would've been out-of-focus if the film hadn't jostled out-of-tautness--as evidenced by the ripples at the top of the image--but the picture of all four of them laughing is in-focus, accentuating the ripples in the water.

This comes from, I believe, the first roll of film I home-developed. And--because I was mixing heavy-handed-Manhattans then--I thought the best blotting-medium was strips of flannel cotton. I was was wrong on that approach.

A square image showing a house & a sign down at the end of a seemingly deserted road. Two nightguard lights illuminate the paths--a greenish mercury vapor & a yellow sodium vapor. Across the road stands a DEAD END sign, in front of which ghostly trails of reddish-yellow-light track head- & tail-lamps of a passing automobile.

Thanks! When I was a kid, this was the kind of image I wanted to make--tough to do with those 1980s 1/40th-of-a-second-fixed-focused "toy" 110 cameras w/plastic lenses & built-in-flashes...even then, something told me I'd be better off with something older. Tremendously pleased w/this shot...
