I figure this holds true for all writers.

Doom scrolling social media & preping to go grocery shopping. You?

All the time. Looks like you do too.

Despite family in the next room. Despite a critique group Thursdays. Despite fellow #writers here & on social media. Even despite agents, editors, publishers--if the #indie has any.

A #writer does the work alone. Kinda like birth & death.

Yep. I get a couple, at least, everyday. ("I hope I find you well...")

What I hope is the 'hook' of my series is an ex-bootlegger turned mob sleuth. So boss advice often sends my MC down very troublesome paths.

Showing mine seems a bit pretentious, so I'll just remind you to consider the classics, i.e. Chandler & Hammitt. Old enough to be hidden gems maybe...

As my MC is an ex-bootlegger, gambler, & mob member, he gets advice mostly from his bosses or from very dangerous men. So, yes he generally takes their advice. Takes it, not always does it. Risky.

Stole this from the killzone blog:

”My advice is not to wait to be struck by an idea. If you’re a writer, you sit down and damn well decide to have an idea. That’s the way to get an idea.”

Re: #bookclub directors. Read my #book? Want to feature me in your #bookclub? Want to send me details?

I remain skeptical. Get back to me. What's 3rd word on page 78, line 6? How much will it #cost me?

As a #writer, I want to know. Is this a #scam?

I'm kind of a tome reader. The more the better, I guess. So, 15 to 25, I guess...

Wow! Checking on my "Following' tab made me realize I'm way, way, way behind on my 'repost' duties...

Easier said than done, but true.

Shows my age, but I've certainly read Hammitt & Bradbury for sure. Good luck with catching up & going forward with your challenge.

Sittin' here staring at a blank page. Gel pen laying lonely on the desk 2 inches from my hand. Feelin' like an anchor pressing down on me. Such is the life of a writer... Sigh.

Can we chat here. I try to keep my email 'quiet.'

Oops, I looked more closely at the images on your page. So I figure you write historical romance.

Right now I'm writing the 4th of a Jazz Age mystery series. I've also written historical fiction. Before I pass on, I'd like to write (finish) what's called a low fantasy, quasi-historical book taking place in Dark Aged Britain. What genre is your fiction?

You're welcome and I wish the same for you. I like the bsky writing community as well. 'Been writing since a kid. Seriously since my son found an unfinished mss & bullied me into finishing it. Fate had amazon allow self-publishing at about the same time. You?

And same to you and yours. Read your 'somethingisgoingtohappen' interview. Good stuff. So, I came to bsky to give you a follow.

Woefully true, I suspect. I appreciate.
