Did you know, a three-mile stretch of the lower Rivelin valley had 20 watermills and 21 mill dams, working from the 16th to 20th centuries!

The park was formed following the 1909 sale of the house and land by Colliery owner William Pass to Sheffield Corporation for a whopping £10,500 (£850k in today's money!)

Firth Park! ☀️

Did you know, Mark Firth, a steel manufacturer and former Lord Mayor of Sheffield, gifted the park to the city in 1875. It was the city’s first publicly owned park!

Today's Christmas countdown is Frecheville Pond!

A popular fishing spot, the pond was originally a reservoir and became a pond when the Frecheville estate. The pond is home to carp, roach and perch and visited by waterfowl, including the odd heron.

Today lets celebrate Glen Howe Park! Offering an amazing walk with views, paths, history and bridges covered by moss. A tranquil and peaceful place! 🌳

Millhouses Park is loved by the people of Sheffield and has great sentimental value, it is not only used for all sorts of activities including outdoor events, but it has a lot of history along and the River Sheaf running through it.
