You may have noticed that the SNES Mario Circuit 3 course has appeared more times in Mario Kart games than any other course: Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart Tour, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart World (as part of Mario Circuit) Development files for Super Mario Kart reveal that it was actually the first course ever made for that game, and by extension the entire Mario Kart series. As such, the decision to keep using it is likely the track's emotional significance to the team as the place where it all began.
