A PDF OF “WE TURN GRUESOME AT NIGHT” FINALLY EXISTS!!!! I’m so excited for you to read this second Burnt Sparrow novel. One of my editors at Titan said it gave him his first proper nightmare in 15 years. 😬
A recent Goodreads review of THEY WERE HERE BEFORE US says, "If you like books that are gross and hopeless and mean spirited I would give this a try."
Don't threaten us with a good time.

Cover artwork for my next novel with Saga Press titled BRUTE in my inbox this morning and let me tell you something: it’s both surreal and wonderful to see “NATIONAL BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF WRETCH” underneath my name 🤩
Fiction can help you experience these uncomfortable emotions in a made-up environment and improve your emotional intelligence. Then when real life experiences and relationships test that emotional intelligence, you're less likely to fail.
Running away from it just trains you to keep running.
Actually I'm not done.
Many people who shy away from discomfort in fiction are the ones who most need to learn to sit with it. The ones who call their friends sharing their troubles "trauma dumping" or distance themselves when a family member is sad or lash out when their biases are confronted.

WRETCH: OR, THE UNBECOMING OF PORCELAIN KHAW by Eric LaRocca @ericlarocca.com (2026)

Queer book: *honest portrayal of queer experiences*
Some loser: "This isn't fun, you aren't comforting and cozying me with this art"
Me: "It's treating you through fiction how you treat me in real life" 🤷♀️
Have so much fun! I miss you both ❤️
This means a lot to me!! To be mentioned in the same sentence as Chuck Palahniuk? What a tremendous honor 🥹❤️

It's Day 8 of Women In Horror Year, and today I'm talking about a book every single reader or writer of Horror should read at least once in their lives. www.briankeene.com/algorithmzer...
Oh, I love Rilke! “Letters to a Young Poet” has always been a huge influence on me.
Wrote a lot today! I’m constantly reminded how much I love writing, how much I appreciate being in the creative flow. Even though I write such bleak and disturbing fiction, I truly find so much joy in the act of writing. I can’t imagine my life without being able to tell my stories.
i once spent three hours on the phone with tom, talking about charlie grant's 'stunts.'
he always had a kind word and, even in his old age, a voracious hunger for new horror literature.
i will dearly miss him.
Very saddened to hear of author Thomas Tessier’s passing. If you are a fan of erotic, disturbing fiction, I highly recommend his excellent novel FINISHING TOUCHES. It’s absolutely brilliant. I loved his writing so much.
