Words are not enough to thank Cllr. Denis O’Callaghan as he brings the curtain down on a 33 year career in service of the people of Killiney- Shankill & Ballybrack.

While he will be sorely missed as a public representative, he leaves an indelible legacy.

Irish isn’t just for Seachtain na Gaeilge, so I’ll keep working on it.

Comhtháthú sóisialta (social cohesion) is something we need to address, relating to uaigneas and teifigh (refugees).

Athrú aeráide (climate change) is something we can tackle at local level, linking back to the lanaí rothar.

My Irish isn’t great, so this Seachtain na Gaeilge I took the opportunity to brush up on my Irish, with a nod to June’s local elections.

Uaigneas (loneliness) and lanaí rothar (bike lanes) were words I realised I already knew, and ones I’ll be talking about a lot.
