I find you can get a feel for it fairly quickly, but starting out against others who already know all this and have answers for any given archetype will always be tough. Idk how much time you want to put into it atm but if you stick with it you'll find your feet!

yeah the knowledge floor is pretty high - knowing what any pokemon can do, what the other player wants to do on a given turn, and especially knowing which pokemon will move first are important and only really picked up through playing/watching others and looking things up

I highly recommend that everyone follow artists. If you do, your feed is filled with art every day. Real, original art. It's bonkers that you can even have this. Amazing. Undeniably cool.

Also to clarify by "acceptable excuse" I mean for the use of genAI in early development if you actually strip it out later. There's no excuse for having that garbage in your game today

"Experimenting with new tools 4 years ago" is an iffy but acceptable excuse imo. But claiming you never intended to leave the assets in, you just forgot which assets were placeholders/to make or implement the final assets/to tell steam about it is so transparent

obviously they're lying to save face, but if your claim is that you never intended for it to be in the final product then you're just highlighting your own pipeline and QC issues, as well as apathy toward any of the major issues surrounding generative AI
