Some people get irritated but the fact is that the war on Iran is currently the most consequential issue in the world. Period. The implications are uncalculable.

After I was informed late last night about the Temporary Flight Restriction that would close El Paso’s airspace for 10 days, my team and I worked through the night and into the morning to get to the bottom of it and then to ensure the TFR was lifted so that normal flight operations could resume.

As a doctor, I am horrified by what I saw at the Whipple detention facility in Minneapolis.

No medical protocols.

No real medical care.

No nurse on site when I visited.

No beds. No real blankets. Extremely cold temperatures. Minimal food.

These conditions are inhumane and unacceptable.

according to this map, the only business in charlottesville currently making millions off ICE contracts is govsmart, a company whose CEO also owns the local franchise of gracie jiu jitsu. interesting!

It's *good* that public people who lots of folks pay attention to wore anti-ICE pins to a swanky event. It has gotten coverage. People who do not closely follow politics might get curious and look for information. And under fascism, making public your ethical stance is important in and of itself.

ICYMI, Scoundrel Time litmag folded last year, but the static site has stayed up temporarily. Just a heads-up that the site will be permanently removed soon, likely in the next few weeks, in case you still need to retrieve your work. #writers @karenebender.bsky.social @daisyfried.bsky.social

Common theme of people I've interviewed recently. At universities, in research centers, in diplomacy, in the legal system, dealing with refugees or immigrants:

The reality inside is much worse than you would think from the outside.

Steve Shirley escaped the Holocaust as a child & went on to found one of the earliest software startups. The really impressive part? She employed women programmers who had been pushed out of the workforce after having kids, & allowed them flexible, family friendly, work from home jobs—in the 1960s!

Deportation of 6-Year-Old Puts Spotlight on ICE’s Detention of Families

The Trump deportation nightmare is even worse than we feared.

A new report reveals that ICE has detained *50* children under 18 in the NYC area since January. At least 4 as young as 6 years old. 38 children have already been deported.

This achieves nothing other than cruelty.
