Save our Sperrins' campaigners and supporters are listening to Marella speaking outside the PAC offices in Belfast. The sky is a bright blue and the sun is shining on the group.
Save our Sperrins' campaigner Marella Fyffe is very skilled at making complicated topics understandable.
Here she is (in the pink fleece), explaining why major transparency concerns around the Public Inquiry into goldmining prompted SOS to hand-deliver a petition to the Planning Appeals Commission.
Put the 'public' at the heart of the Public Inquiry!
For a long time, PILS have backed the call of local communities to make the upcoming goldmining inquiry accessible.
Today, we were proud to stand with Save Our Sperrins @actnowcampaigns.bsky.social as they handed over their 4k-strong petition!
Well done to @actnowcampaigns.bsky.social for bringing attention to this rates giveaway for big business.
John O’Dowd must change this policy now.

BREAKING: Further proof NI firm supplied fighter jet parts to Israel.
Invest NI’s multi-million pound state funding of Moyola Precision Engineering has made the public complicit in Israel’s genocidal bombing on Gaza.

How much has Stormont given away in rates exemptions to Dalradian Gold since 2021? £58,849
Well done @actnowcampaigns.bsky.social for uncovering this. When money is apparently so short for public services these rate exemptions are a slap in the face of the tax payer.

Rates relief for these companies was questionable enough already, but there definitely shouldn’t be any for those profiting from genocide.
Great work as always by @actnowcampaigns.bsky.social.

Thank you to Katy from @actnowcampaigns.bsky.social for delivering the workshop Navigating Conversations on Migration.
It was a very productive and empowering morning!
We call on Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald to include this company in Invest NI’s ongoing internal review into public funding for companies connected to the F-35 programme and expedite the findings in a public report. 9/9
There is a real chance that taxpayer’s money has provided specialised support for Israel’s F-35 war planes. If Invest NI can’t give guarantees that this isn’t the case, then public funds should be nowhere near EAE and the other companies linked to the F-35 programme and the Israel Defense Force. 8/9
Given that Invest NI knew NI-based EAE had worked on F-35 projects for the aforementioned companies, did Invest NI conduct due diligence and contact the company to assess whether they continue to provide services for F-35 projects once Israel’s bombing campaign commenced? 7/9
These two companies have been supplying F-35 planes, components and spare parts to the Israeli military so they can drop 2,000lb bombs on Gaza. 6/9
As Invest NI conducts an internal review into public funding for companies linked to Israel’s F-35 fighter jets, our member-funded investigation has revealed the clearest link yet between Invest NI and the two main partners of the F-35 programme — BAE systems and Lockheed Martin. 5/9
In another meeting between Invest NI and EAE, the meeting notes released state that the company “outlined that business remains extremely busy with a number of current projects being undertaken including (redacted) BAE Systems (redacted) for F35 (redacted)”. 4/9
Although much of the information released has been redacted, it states that “EAE are automation specialists” that “provides manpower support for (redacted) and F35 for Lockheed Martin in the UK”. 3/9
Documents we recieved under the Freedom of Information Act show that on February 19th, 2018 Invest NI had a meeting with EAE which according to official records was “to discuss potential for EAE to become an Invest NI client”. 2/9
NEW: Our member funded research has discovered a FOURTH company, Belfast-based Electronic Automation Engineers (EAE) that has received £157,365 in funding from Invest NI. 🧵 1/9
