It's been a decade since this game released and became an icon in indie gaming, so here's my celebratory art piece!

User-drawn pixel art from Splatoon 2 for the Knights vs Wizards splatfest in March 2019. It depicts all the major knights in Shovel Knight, including the Order of No Quarter antagonists. In the foreground are Shovel Knight and Shield Knight, behind the words "we will bury you". Above them is the diminutive Tinker Knight with a wrench. Behind him is Plague Knight (holding what appears to be a love potion in reference to his DLC campaign Plague of Shadows) and Black Knight. Above them is Specter Knight (scythe in hand) and Treasure Knight. Mole Knight appears slightly above them to the right. Flamboyant King Knight is to the left of Mole, sharing a toast (pinky out!) with Propeller Knight as he flies above the crowd. The large and stoic Polar Knight stands above occupying the entire upper left corner. 11 characters total drawn by hand on a 320x120 pixel canvas. I was a different person in 2019.

It's funny, for a while I kinda wanted a rematch of the knight vs wizard fest from #Splatoon2 so I could redo this #ShovelKnight post in #Splatoon3 's new vertical format, but figured there was a slim chance of a rematch. Now it's actually happening and yet I may have to pick wizard/witch instead.

You can tell that the shading was added last minute and the perspective is slightly off, but we love him anyway! Shoutout to all of the other slow artists out there 😭
