Wow, a photo swiping update.
Y'know, on mobile, whenever you swipe left, it's fine.
But whenever you want to swipe back to the right, to, say, swipe back to the 1st picture, it swipes out the main menu.
Meaning this update makes it harder to view photos on mobile.
I see they pushed the carousel change to punish artists that were mean to the pool phone guy

bluesky, we're a bit rocky right now, but this carousel thing instead of a mosaic of images is going to effectively make every photo you post that isn't the first one, invisible. nobody is going to be swiping for every post they see.

Wanna partake on the “show what built your style” trend going on atm but if im quite honest i don’t know exactly what influenced it. The most i can think about is old 2000’s video game box cover artwork (what spark my desire to start drawing) and renaissance disney era.

Bingo! Summarized and well said beautifully. This is exactly why it would be bad if all socmed shutdown. If anything that would be an even more negative impact especially due to losing all of the above things you mentioned.
The trick is to start learning to limit your time on socmed and learning when enough is enough for the day and do other things to keep you from mindlessly scrolling and getting more toxic by the minute.
I don’t “network,” I make friends. Other artists are not my competition, they’re my beloved peers and sources of inspiration. We all have the same goal; to share our art. I’m not gonna corporatize my human relationships with them. I am in my sandbox playing and I hope they join me.
I cannot stress enough how much we need community. We aren't all brand monoliths. Business connections are not a replacement for human connections.
We can just. Make friends. And we should.

People have been changed by social media so much (myself included) that the absence of it would be like dealing with de-tox. God it would suck but eventually we'd move on
