2023 was an eventful year for me. Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine dominated my work the first 9 months. But since October 7th the world’s attention has shifted to the war in Gaza. I sincerely hope that 2024 will be a year of progress toward peace and justice.

Anti-microbial resistant pathogens on the march, a budgetary trainwreck in Germany, violence & displacement in Sudan, death & destruction in Gaza, and election chaos in Congo - not exactly merry topics for my last day on the anchor desk before Christmas.
May there be brighter days ahead 🙏
