Alaska is attempting what few airlines have ever done: successfully fly as a dual-brand carrier. From Wednesday, fliers will see the new Alaska-Hawaiian branding at airports around the world. The aim is to respect both brands within a single airline family.

Central City Code Amendments Project What: The Central City Code Amendments Project will make strategic updates to the zoning tools of the Central City 2035 Plan. Post-pandemic trends continue to show high vacancy rates in downtown and other parts of the Central City. This project will explore creative solutions to promote housing production and support Central City revitalization. Learn more about the project. Status: In January, the Discussion Draft, encouraging housing production and economic recovery in downtown Portland, was published for review. A series of online and in-person events for the public to learn about the project and give feedback were held. You can watch the information sessions that were recorded on Jan. 20 and Jan. 29. Next opportunity to engage: Project staff will incorporate public comments and release a Proposed Draft the week of April 20. A public hearing at the Planning Commission on the Proposed Draft is scheduled for May 26. Check the project website, portland.gov/central-city, for updates. Heโs so big!
In fairness I think he really does live here now. (And I say that as someone who was skeptical of his 2022 claim.)
I went to a winemakers event
Both apparently!
Nicholas Kristof just poured me a glass of wine
I knew that one day I would get on a Type I MAX, and while I wouldnโt know it at the time, it would be the last time I ever would. I started a list, and it looks like February 12th was my ever last ride on one.
I completely forgot that there used to be a magazine dedicated to the Pearl. I wonder when it ceased publication?
Same!
Despite being a more of a modernist, I have a real soft spot for the design of the original transit mall and the first MAX line; Iโm delighted to see this original MAX shelter being reused in front of the James Beard Public Market.

While it's probably a good idea, "pay more now so that there are massive savings in 2053" seems like a hard sell politically.
Just had it confirmed that this is in effect in Vancouver, WA, as of March 1st.
Me too. A couple years ago I met with someone who had some great concepts for what to do with it, but it seems like he wasn't successful at buying it. I'll be very interested to see what the new owners plan to do with it.

It will be quite a bit larger. Compare the size of the AEG/Monqui site (left) and Revolution Hall (right), and then consider that the music venue is only the inside of the donut of the old high school.
Sorry, this site's glitchiness today meant it wasn't clear which post you were replying to. The AEG/Monqui venue will have a flexible capacity between 2,000 and 4,250 attendees. www.nextportland.com/2026/04/07/u...
A lot of steel now erected
Think itโs still a while out, but good to see progress nonetheless
Spot zoning of parcels tends to do that; broad based rezoning doesnโt.
Thatโs amazing. Congratulations!
