We've filled all of our 2026 Canadian writing retreats but we still have space for our retreats in the Cotswolds region of England this May and December.
May = Bath & Stonehenge, and December = Oxford & cozy pubs, when fires are lit and it's picture postcard perfect.

Yesterday, I struggled with a challenging plot point, couldn’t focus—scenarios kept slipping away, water through my fingers. I finally closed my laptop, put on my headphones, opened my meditation app, and wrote the big questions by hand and began to answer them.
Sometimes we just need a change. ~J
Hard to believe we’ll wrap up our first retreat of 2025 here at the Kingsbrae Estate in St. Andrews by-the-Sea, New Brunswick, Canada, on Sunday. We’ll be back in a couple of weeks with another group of writers and can’t wait. Here’s the sun rising above the writing studios, bay in the distance...
Join Canadian authors Gerard Collins and Janie Simpson on a small-group writing retreat! We’ll visit Newfoundland in August, Ireland in October, Scotland in November, and England in December.
We’re writers, so we get the need for quiet, focused time, too.
Visit www.goandwrite.ca for more info.
This December, join us for a small-group retreat in the quiet of the Cotswolds. We'll roast chestnuts, journey through the countryside, and share stories by the hearth in a 14th-C monastery. A room to yourself, and the focus is on you and your writing. It's not too early to dream: www.goandwrite.ca.
Prem. Holt, we attended an ONB/WorkingNB session and appreciate that the supports are fluid and evolving. We’re hoping for eventual targeted financial supports for small tourism/hospitality businesses like ours, encouraging us to bring more business here. We’d be glad to discuss with reps—thanks!
My sister's ex-husband can't get no lovin'
Walks around dog-faced and hurt
Now he's got nothin', head in the oven
I can't decide which is worse
Seriously great writing.
We're preparing to shake off our hibernation, unfurl our metaphorical sails, and write in some of the most gorgeous, peaceful places on earth. Here in Canada, we’ll visit Newfoundland and New Brunswick; then we’re in Ireland, Scotland, and England.
Join us! Visit www.goandwrite.ca for more info.
It's a rare treat to be able to offer a workshop in the place I lived, taught university, and wrote fiction for many years. It's always nice to come home, and, yes, the kettle will be on. ~ Gerard
Join Canadian professional and award-winning authors Dr. Gerard Collins and Jane Simpson on a writing retreat, near or far.

Tariffs, threats, and chaos hurt us all. In solidarity with the Feb. 28 economic blackout, we're not buying or running ads on any platforms today. Also not buying from any of these large corporations. Peace, love, and harmony to all, from our entire staff: Gerard & Janie (artwork by @martharich63)🇨🇦
Yes, you can write anywhere—but you can also write on a magical island in Ireland, at a Viking settlement in Newfoundland, in the breathtaking Highlands of Scotland, by the quiet seaside in New Brunswick, or beside a crackling fire in England.
Retreats by writers, for writers: www.goandwrite.ca.
If Newfoundland, Canada is on your bucket list, come with us this August and stay a while, where the Vikings first settled almost 500 years before Columbus sailed the ocean blue, hear the ancient voices that linger on the wind while the promise of the present steadies your breath. www.goandwrite.ca
If you're a writer who wants to get away from it all, consider us a safe haven. We welcome all writers, regardless of gender, race or religion. We require only a keen interest in writing and respect for others. Please observe the "no drama" sign. Spaces fill quickly, but we have a room for you now.
7 nights in a castle, 8 nights on Inis Mór with an ancient fortress overlooking the ocean as your backyard, 4 nights in a lively Irish town, and 3 more nights in Dublin. Plus, a private concert with a legendary folk singer, a tour of Newgrange, and much more. Our best Ireland retreat ever!
Private writing studios, a room of your own and a gorgeous seaside town to explore. While June has sold out, we still have spaces for our newly-opened retreat in May and one room remaining for September. It's time for your writing, time to relax, time to leave the daily worries and concerns behind.
In the bleak midwinter, there's nothing like a place by the fire, a pint or a cuppa tea, a good book, and, if you're lucky, good company.
Check out our video for Christmastime in the Cotswolds 2025 retreat, and please share. We have thousands of Meta followers, so we're starting from scratch here.
When the world is too much, the creative soul craves respite. Join us on a writing retreat in Scotland for 12 nights in the Highlands and Edinburgh just as the Christmas markets light up. Make it a year of peace, writing, and retreating from a world that deserves to be left alone for a while.
