THE UNITED CHURCH OF NORTHFIELD BELL RINGING The United Church of Northfield's Council voted unanimously at their March meeting to support the upcoming rally in Northfield being organized by a newly formed community group, Northfield Rises (Resilient, Inspiring, Supporting, Educating, Solidarity). The group formed after Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids that took place in communities across the country. For more about Northfield Rises go to https://www.northfieldrises.org/ The United Church of Northfield is a federation of the United Church of Christ and the Unitarian Universalist Association. Both denominations have a long and deep commitment to issues of human rights, social justice and equality. Although our members have diverse backgrounds, we have a common goal of practicing kindness, non-violence, treating other with dignity and welcoming all. To demonstrate our church's support for the rally, we will be ringing our George Holbrook bell made in Medway, Massachusetts and shipped to Northfield in the late 1830s. Holbrook was an apprentice to Paul Revere, who had some experience making sure our country is governed "By the People" and not a king. The rally, "No Kings Northfield," is being held in conjunction with others across the country, and will be held on the Common, Saturday, March 28th from 10:00-11:00am.
