As the last 24h have shown, ChatGPT is breakthrough mainstream accessible AI. This is akin to what Apple was when they “won” mobile. You don’t need to do it first. Just make it easy.

What Are the Ethics of Strapping VR Headsets on Inmates in Solitary Confinement? Stuck in cramped cells for days and weeks at a time, incarcerated people are being whisked away to beautiful worlds through the magic of VR.

Worth a read for that conflicted dystopia vibe...

Is London only great when the sun's out and it's 16-25° cos we're so beaten down the rest of the time? Anyhow best city in the world rahrahrah.

Bullies are cowards. The people always suffer when ruled by cowards. A sad dark day.

So hear me out… “Meet Cute” x “Doom”

At the time was feeling The Gorge was giving heavy Doom/id vibes then saw Trent Reznor did the music. It surely must’ve started out as a Doom script with mood board or something. 😆

This is why first impressions really count. Timing is everything. And that ironically repetition and consistency are table stakes.

I’ve lived long enough now to know that I’ll never underestimate how long it takes for things to be known, especially as knowledge changes over time.

The effort required to change knowledge and perspective is immense, especially if a belief or behaviour is strongly held.

Apple should’ve made the Google Super Bowl ad. Instead they’ve made a widely panned series of Apple Intelligence ads and released a lackluster set of AI integrations. They have all the right pieces. Here’s hoping for a comeback.

Awesome talks at the London Creative Coding meetup last night from Ray (@field-io.bsky.social) and @piotrmirowski.bsky.social (Improbotics/Google DeepMind).

Loved hearing about all the care that went into IBM Quantum branding and experiments in using AI for improv.

Still takes a smart and curious person to ask the right questions and vet the output. These are valuable general soft skills.

The takeaway should be that LLMs are most useful for those who are already skilled and talented. Who have the right mindset.

I think this is what Cuban was getting at.

Yeah but at least I’m getting 10 in one go. Also they’ll likely converge so depending on the use case that itself is useful.

tbf I kinda want this for ye olde regular search engines too.

#207: The Cringe Matrix Despite being treated in the popular imagination as something specific—earnestness, maybe—I think cringe is actually much more complicated than that.

An enlightening article on the many definitions of cringe.

This is by far the funniest AI video series I've seen so far and I hesistate to use the word AI because bots and people's brains short circuit but any way check out the whole series. The Monoverse looks very bright.

Our next president will have to be technologically competent, at least , in order for us to sustain our place in the world.

This will become increasingly obvious over the next 4 years as AI gets more powerful

This isn’t necessarily bad. Truly. Done right, we will be a better, more equal society

The biggest cage match ever will be between Musk and Trump. Elon will try to implement AI in a manner that automates much of what Trump is now trying to control.

Trump will have no understanding of what is going on and will have to turn to the AI oligarchs to support him in this battle.

I kinda want this though. Ask once. Give me the answers from all the different leading edge bots back so I can assess.

Citing sources alleviates hallucination anxiety but I doubt most actually bother. Though concerning I wonder whether this even matters in practice. Did people bother to vet info much any way? And was the internet already too corrupted by SEO slop, let alone the AI slop we now face.
