Anyway, I’m glad that my naivety and idiocy has played a small part in improving this hospitals checking in process and ensuring no one ends up getting surgery they didn’t want ✊🏻

Turns out that Alan wasn’t in reception at the time and when I asked what I almost signed up for she said “you don’t want to know”

Anyway, fast forward 2.5 years and my wife is in the same hospital and I get these messages

We get to a room and she starts pointing out the bed, telling me I can grab a shower, the tv has Netflix so I can login to my account if I wanted and to get changed into a gown etc.

This is when I said “yeah I’m here for a consultation?”. She then said “you’re not Alan <surname>?” Nope!

She double checked the surgeons name and this was completely my fault but I said “I think so”. It was a surgeon I’d not met before and at the time had a lot going on so wasn’t quite with it.

Anyway, she said great and took me upstairs to the ward. This is odd I thought.

A few years ago, I went to a local hospital for a consultation with a surgeon about a medical issue.

I was waiting in reception for some time and after a while a nurse came down and called “Alan for Dr …”. I didn’t think she said a surname, no one else answered so I said “yeah that’s me I think”.

The operation is over! The patient lived, and is healing!

Somehow got myself onto “videos of my dog now they’re gone” TikTok and I absolutely hate it.

In the U.K., when the PM tanked the economy one newspaper stuck a lettuce on a livestream and asked which will last longer and she was gone before the lettuce.
