The flip side of that, though, is that you literally do not need to arrive at a smaller airport more than an hour or so before the flight, especially if you aren’t checking a bag.

I don’t think Will is wrong here…but only in some circumstances. If you’re flying between one of the 2 dozen or so major hubs/focal cities/Vegas/Orlando, you’ll be fine.

Flying to or from any smaller airport? A missed flight or even delay could set you back more than a few hours.

I guess I could switch airlines, but that would mean flying through O’Hare.

But I want to get home, not spend even more time in an airport.

A missed (or delayed) flight for any reason, including weather or mechanical, can be devastating to travel plans.

Direction of travel matters too - flying home to the Upper Midwest from the West Coast meant a very early flight, and if I missed that, I wasn’t getting home to see my kids that day

I kind of disagree with this take. Missing a flight is fine if you live near a city with high frequency and lots of airline choices.

But if you live near a smaller airport, modern banked flight operations mean that a missed flight can set you back a lot of money and time.

Seeing two big-name actresses push AI is your reminder to read @cornellwriter.bsky.social’s “Through the Machine,” which is about AI in Hollywood.

Straight-up 60s cautionary-tale sci-fi shit: a computer system whose programming serves as the last remaining record of the collapsed past society that built it. Captain Kirk landing on a mysterious planet only to be told by a tinny robot voice that he needs to give 1000% bc 100% is for beta cucks.

And...honestly, how many of the perpetually online progressives preaching this are 1)young enough to not really remember the DotCom crash, 9/11, and 2008 and/or 2)actually real people and not some social media influence operation.

It's sad that I have to even consider #2....

With all the AI talk and uncertainty about how jobs will look in the future, I can see why people would feel like "yeah, the numbers look good...but I still don't feel like I'm better off or will be better off in the future."

It seems like COVID is the start of a lot of this, but it also seems like we've had a bunch of things on top of that. Supply chain issues, Russia invading Ukraine, constantly being told that AI and robots are going to put everyone out of work, Trump's 2nd term round of tariffs, Iran War, etc

But that’s only because every time I think I have a favorite, I learn about 10 more cool new ones. Or how old ones are being revised due to new evidence.

Thank god my kids are now too old for Dinosaur Train!

AI Use Appears to Have a "Boiling Frog" Effect on Human Cognition, New Study Warns A new study claims to offer the first causal link between AI dependency and cognitive erosion. Researchers warn of long-term implications.

NEW: A new pre-print study offers the first causal evidence that outsourcing reasoning tasks to AI can rapidly erode users' independent performance AND their will to persist despite difficulty.

"People’s persistence drops... they’re also not willing to try without AI.”

I suspect Trump officials and right wing media are using AI to write speeches, accounting for the inexplicable linkage to inappropriate (or ironically appropriate) pop culture references. bsky.app/profile/jess...

Robot or human?

These are the glass containers: www.walmart.com/ip/574359462...

I have bought more than what is in the kit to replace ones that have broken over the decade we’ve been using them and to add extras. The small rectangle ones are also great for meal prep and making single-serve meals

A combination of things. We used to use a lot of the Rubbermaid plastic containers with the red lids, but over the years we’ve lost (or thrown out…for reasons…) a bunch of them.

Now it’s a mix of round glass storage containers with plastic lids and plastic Chinese food takeout containers.

Appalling behaviour from those with agendas other than concern over fuel prices. The Muslim Sisters of Éire do incredible work feeding and helping unhoused people.

AI bros sound the same as NRA people popping up after tragedies to say guns have legit uses. Nobody asked you, everybody already knows what you think, and you're only here to yell PR for the product that you turned into your identity.
