And beyond the significant resolutions we passed, our coalition also secured expanded leadership roles in the World Zionist Organization and the other National Institutions for the next five years!

The Blogs: Quitting the WZC is a big mistake By pulling out of key Zionist institutions, Yair Lapid deprived the liberal camp of a powerful tool for shaping Israel’s future

Yair Lapid is right that there is corruption in the World Zionist Organization – but wrong to walk away.

When liberals abandon the field, the far right takes it over.

Leftist World Zionist Congress faction says Yair Lapid handed religious right a major win In a Statement, the World Labor Zionist Alliance Said That the Centrist Yesh Atid's Surprise Withdrawal From the Agreement Governing Power Sharing in the Main Zionist Institutions Had Sent a 'Damaging Message' to Liberal Jews in the Diaspora

"Turning our backs on these institutions sends a damaging message to our allies"

Yes, the World Zionist Organization definitely needs more transparency and oversight; and that’s part of what we spent last week doing in J'lem. But Yair Lapid's announcement that Yesh Atid is leaving the WZO is little more than performative politics, explains our ED, R' @mhughesrob.bsky.social.

WZO drops cushy post for Yair Netanyahu after nomination backfires Organization's leaders rejected a deal that would have given the elder son of the PM an executive seat, even after a last-ditch effort by the PM's office

Another positive development out of the World Zionist Congress! Israel's HaDemocratim party last week condemned Yair Netanyahu's potential appointment, calling it “corrupt and disgraceful” and citing his regular engagement in "incitement and division”. www.timesofisrael.com/wzo-drops-cu...

Funny how the writer, who's affiliated with the rightwing Aish Ha'Am slate, neglected to mention or criticize the political resolutions promoted by the right at the WZC - e.g. in favor of annexing the West Bank. www.jpost.com/opinion/arti...

An op-ed preaching "unity" labels us anti-Zionist and calls for our expulsion. All because we mustered a majority and got our resolutions passed.
At the next WZC, we'll be back and even stronger.

We built an incredible bloc that passed resolutions ranging from support for liberal Jewish institutions within Israel, to a state commission of inquiry into October 7th, to the blockage of illegal settlement activity in Gaza and the West Bank. This is where most Diaspora Jews *are.*

The Meretz-backed World Union of Meretz led the resolution at the World Zionist Congress, with strong support from Partners for Progressive Israel and the Hatikvah Slate.

“This is why we stay in the room,” Hughes-Robinson said. “It’s harm reduction — a brick in a much larger wall — but it matters.”

E1 settlements project leads to walk out at World Zionist Congress | The Jerusalem Post Subjects as antisemitism and education receive overwhelming support, while more controversial matters, such as the rejection of settlement building, saw a mass walkout in the WZC.

At the WZC plenary, we had the votes against the Israeli government's dangerous, anti-peace E-1 West Bank settlement megaproject - so the rightwing tried to stop us by denying us a quorum. We will keep fighting for the resolution's passage!

Our Victory Yesterday in Jerusalem - J Street Our delegation led the successful passage of a resolution that bans the WZO from any involvement in settlement construction in Gaza.

Right-wing delegates tried to silence us – they walked out.

We stayed, we voted, we won.

At the World Zionist Congress, Jeremy Ben-Ami and the Hatikvah Slate made clear: We choose democracy, peace and equality. (@hatikvahslate.bsky.social) (@jeremybenami.bsky.social)

This is massive! We just prevented the World Zionist Organization from providing any type of support for settlement activity in Gaza! No $, no assistance, no support of any kind! Our resolution passed 300-242.
This is why you elected us to the World Zionist Congress. Thank you for all your support!
