A glossy crow in a small tree, with a vivid blue sky behind him.
This handsome chap flew down to check me out as I pulled up at Bunnings the other day. Gular pouches - not just for pelicans 🖤

Baby Tuesday’s pathology came back and his tumour is benign! He isn’t out of the woods yet but this feels miraculous 🖤
Adorable!! Mine aren’t on there tho 😔🖤
Just how spicy does wildlife rescue GET down there?! 🤣💚
Thanks, Lana 🖤 I was the luckiest for thirteen years 🖤
It’s been almost a month without my best friend and it isn’t getting easier.
Splash (in my magpie aviary last summer) turned up yesterday with a full new set of adult feathers & is, in fact, a he! The saltiest of birds, he needed tube feeds and lots of meds to survive bacterial enteritis, & he’s never forgiven me - but accepted a native raspberry off the bush yesterday 🥰🖤
She’s stunning!! Way to go!
Thanks for all the common sense - wish it were more common! (The crows say thank you for their food!)
Sharing bc Nick is excellent on sustainable farming practices in the increasingly bleak face of late stage capitalism - highly recommend 💚
A busy night for wildlife! Encountered this beautiful great barred frog and this very calm little eastern small-eyed snake while I was doing bedtime rounds of the aviaries tonight. Three years ago, encountering a snake that venomous I would’ve tried to call in an airstrike 😏
Piper sends kisses to everyone who’s followed their journey and sent them mojo. All three are looking wonderful - we’ve finished all our meds, and they’re all so big and strong and absolutely feral 🤣 I could not be happier for them 🖤
Hard to believe they’re not quite six weeks old now, but also I have spent pretty much every waking minute with them so it feels like forever. They have all bounced back so brilliantly!! Everyone is eating well, & Piper is devoting her life to being an absolute menace, which is glorious 🤣🖤
So beautiful 😍
These guys are five weeks old, so a little way off release yet, but they’re just as gorgeous as babies 🖤
So gorgeous 😍😍😍
lol it’s different when it happens to them 🤣
A pretty bird with a big, rounded beak, and black and gold plumage, which is quite spiky. There is a tail hanging out of her mouth, as I wasn’t quick enough to catch the rest of the mouse going down.
One of last year’s darlings - Horton, a pheasant coucal, showing what she thinks of mice (“delicious!”).
Pheasant coucals are the coolest cuckoos around, and one of only a very few which aren’t brood parasites - not only do they raise their own babies, they’ve been known to adopt orphans ❤️
Oh I love this! Has a really gorgeous Jim Warren feel to it, with the subject and that beautiful light!
She was the smallest, but she ruled the big boys with an iron fist. Truthfully, though, they all loved each other fiercely, and built cuddle puddles so you couldn’t tell where one began and the others ended.
Sleep well, Pandora, little princess. It was a joy to have you for so long ❤️😂
A small, slightly wonky little turquoise cinnamon green cheek conure, clinging to the top of a wooden toy in a fenced in outdoor patio. His head is cocked to one side, as though he’s curious.
Jonesy has been doing a brilliant job relearning to fly after his broken wing. It’ll take time, but he is incredibly determined 💚
Piper doing some preening nibbles in her sleep 🖤
My beautiful eclectus parrot is outside the window just quietly saying, “Hewwo!” over and over because he knows I can hear him, and I say it back. It’s the sweetest way to start a day 💚
It’s totally pervasive. I was just thinking about how Mum had hard contact lenses and I only have the option of daily disposables 🤔
11g at hatch. The following day, Prue, Piper and Phoebe weighed 13, 15 and 16g. That’s my bank card, for comparison.
They’re still doing it pretty tough - and it was 38C today, which was brutal on these poor little nuclear reactors - but they are hanging in there 🖤
One entirely of their own making. I don’t have much sympathy for them.
Three nestling crows, snuggled up together. Their feathers are coming in, and despite my efforts the babies are a bit grubby from the combination of spilled food and feather dust. They are, however, on the mend 🖤
A long, long day - I spent 2.5 hours at the wildlife hospital today while my kiddos waited their turn in triage - luckily, one of my friends had an appt so I had great company.
Phoebe has been doing it so tough but I think we are finally onto the right meds - she’s a smidge brighter tonight 🖤
Beetroot trying desperately to get Jonesy to preen him 💚
