EFF's Deputy Legal Director/Free Speech and Transparency Litigation Director, @aaronmackey.bsky.social, gave testimony to the CA Assembly, urging the Judiciary Committee to vote 'no' on AB 1709. This attack on the First Amendment rights of young people and adult users must be stopped.
The housing crisis is echoing across the nation.
Our BUILD plan is one of the most comprehensive to tackle it — making it easier, faster, and more effective to build homes here.
i think folks might be unfamiliar with "the pharisees", so let's make it clear: he's saying the jews run the press, and that they are conspiring to undermine the military. it's not just antisemitism, it's indistinguishable from nazism.
Armageddon is terrible, but our only other option was diversity trainings at work.

We’re getting the housing supply up so your costs come down. By partnering with the Ontario government, we’ll cut development charges by up to 50%, lower taxes on new homes, and build new transit infrastructure.
There were more traffic deaths than homicides in 2025. I’m running to make LA streets safer for everyone!

Screenshot of an X post by Senator Tom Cotton saying Iran has been an imminent threat to the United States for 47 years and that the president was right to act. Below is a Fox News segment with Cotton speaking while footage labeled “U.S. Central Command – Unclassified” shows a strike.
“Imminent.” You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Ridiculous! Friendly reminder that this bad take is just from the local Loma Prieta chapter of the national organization. I voted in the recent chapter election for new leadership that supports building new homes, but sadly a majority of local members stuck with old leadership that opposes.
It should become California's rallying cry, that we will build up our cities so anyone can find safe refuge here.
Part of the myth of Ring is that this is MY camera on MY door--but when you see a map and realize that there are a hundred in your neighborhood and they're all connected by a corporation that serves the police, the illusion dissolves.
Governor Pritzker convenes a roundtable on housing in Illinois.
Just unveiled the Building Up IL Developments (BUILD) plan and gathered a group to talk about housing in our state.
The consensus? We need to build more and fast.
Looking forward to getting it out to communities across Illinois.
Now more than ever, people have seen the real-world risk of invasive face recognition technology. We won’t lose focus. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
San Diego rents fall 5.5%—proof that building housing works.
Add 6,000 apartments, prices drop.
This eases pressure on voucher programs, helps low-income renters, makes the city more accessible.
Want sustained affordability? Keep building.

A lot of residential only zoning in California traces back to anti Chinese laundry services and general anti saloon politics.

ICE OUT NOW
ICE and CBP face-scanned 100,000 people last year. So EFF is proud to support Senator Markey’s “ICE Out of My Face Act,” which will stop these agencies’ biometric surveillance. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
There is exactly *one* big city mayor in the Bay Area who supported SB79, the holy grail of YIMBY housing reforms. It was Barbara Lee. No other big city mayor in the Bay Area chose to do so.
Do with that information what you will.
This is a lot of the Bay Area's urban core.

Thanks to @xianleonard.bsky.social for covering our new research on local impact fees charged to new subsidized affordable housing developments in California.
