There's a special circle of hell reserved for anyone who sells T-shirts featuring a cat with a lightning bolt on its face captioned "David Meowie". Sorry, I don't make the rules.

One of the most photogenic men on the planet, a career spanning 6 decades, 26 albums, constantly innovating and reinventing... and the official Bowie merch site always goes with that flipping lightning bolt!
Superb!
Great photos of an amazing band - thank you!

Here's C.S. Lewis Song by Brooke Fraser (2006):

"My impression of him was that he was an utter gentleman, genuine, humble, so kind, and as a young artist I was so blown away by this"
"Our interaction was brief but so impacting for me. I arrived back in my dressing room to find flowers from him welcoming me to the tour."
"I certainly didn't expect him to be aware of who his support act was, let alone to have hand-picked me himself, to have watched me in interviews and taken the time to listen to my record, and have nice things to say to me about it."
"Turning, I saw David Bowie walking towards me. No minder, no entourage, just one of the great musical pioneers of our time approaching me with a warm, welcoming grin. He introduced himself and proceeded to give me some really specific feedback and encouragement."
Brooke wrote: "After my soundcheck at Wellington's Westpac Stadium, I had wandered out into the middle of the field, taking in the 35,000 empty seats and the gravity of the occasion when all of a sudden I had a sense someone was behind me."
A David Bowie story from New Zealand:
During the 2004 Reality Tour the support act for Bowie's only New Zealand show was 19 year old local artist Brooke Fraser ... 🧵
Apart from Duet with Lorde, other unreleased titles from the Blackstar sessions were Blaze, When Things Go Bad, Russian Black Man of Moscow, Somewhere and Wistful. Most of these have since been identified as demos that were re-titled or from the Lazarus musical.
Many fans saw Lorde's moving Brit Awards tribute as the antidote to Lady Gaga's "cruise-ship medley" at the Grammy's the previous week.
In 2016, Lorde was invited by Bowie's family to perform Life on Mars at the Brit Awards, accompanied by Bowie's regular touring band.
David Bowie believed the young New Zealand singer Lorde was “the future of music”, his longtime pianist Mike Garson has said.
“David really liked Lorde, and he felt like she was the future of music, and they had a few wonderful moments together”.
Bowie songs we'll probably never get to hear #2: Duet with Lorde.
According to bassist Tim Lefebvre, Bowie had written one tune that was supposed to be a duet with Lorde.
The problem with Spotify is that it thinks there are "artists similar to David Bowie"
Mr Bagwell didn't like the cats. But they must have loved him very much, because after he disappeared mysteriously they didn't eat for a week.
♥️If you haven't found it yet, the other track is Falling Down. I love the combination of their voices.

At this point it seemed Bowie might never record again. It was a long wait till 2013!
As a consolation prize, the same year Bowie contributed backing vocals on two tracks on Scarlett Johansson's album of Tom Waits covers. Bowie's contribution to Fannin Street is rather magnificent, with multiple layers of vocals giving a heavenly choir effect.

Bowie songs we'll never get to hear #1:
In 2008 David Bowie and Mylène Farmer intended to perform a duet on her Point de Sutre album. According to Le Parisien 30/08/2008, this was eventually cancelled due to Bowie's health problems.
"To me ping pong just looks like two perverts spanking a ghost."

Riverport Amphitheatre '95 - Bowie improvises a new verse for Heart's Filthy Lesson [at 4:07]:
"Paddy, save this flower
Don't eat this flower
It's got somebody's heart in it
And it's still wet with blood
It's a wet bloody rose!"
