This should go without saying, but it's okay if someone you don't agree with goes on a certain show or podcast. It's okay to be exposed to dissenting opinions. It's okay to feel uncomfortable. The biggest danger for the Democratic Party moving forward is the imposition of ideological purity tests.

On #election night, #Trump stated that the #AmericanPeople have given him a clear #Mandate, but he won the #popularvote by 1.5%, one of the slimmest margins ever. His use of the word “mandate” is pulled directly from the #Project2025 cover page: “Mandate For Leadership”. No coincidence. Read it now.

All of this goes to show the depth of the #rightwing #misinformationmachine. Not only do they take something said years ago, they convince everyone that’s the left’s campaign, and when they win, say this clearly wasn’t what people wanted. #Democrats are in serious trouble if they can’t counteract.

After the #election, a segment ran on #foxnews discussing why #democrats lost. One reporter said (and I’m paraphrasing) that democrats must realize now that transgender affirming surgeries as a central campaign promise clearly wasn’t something Americans want, and they are now realizing this.

The biggest lesson to learn here for #democracts is to boldly address false claims like this in public. Own up to what was said in the past and why, and tackle the claim head on with what you really think and plan to do. Instead, #republicans controlled the narrative, and people believe them.

#Democrats underestimated the right wing #misinformationmachine, assuming that #commonsense and #reality would be enough for people to realize how absolutely ridiculous this is. In hindsight, this wasn’t about #transgender issues at all, but for many, a misuse of #taxpayer funds while they struggle.

When Kamala was asked about this, the answer was not helpful to her campaign or to counteracting the false reality that the right created in people’s minds by constantly running a commercial saying she is for “they/them” while he is for “you”. She said she would follow the law. This didn’t help.

Fox News promoted this talking point constantly, pretty much daily, to their viewers and spent significant time discussing it as though she was saying and pushing this as a necessary and central goal of her presidency.

Not only was this not a campaign policy or talking point, but @kamalaharrisbsky.bsky.social didn’t bring this up once.

This is the ridiculous and unnecessary question that the #ACLU posed on their #questionnaire sent to #Democrat primary participants in 2019, and #Kamala’s answer. This is available online at their website. #Republicans spent over $200m to convince #Americans this was her main campaign policy. False.
